In other posts I suggested everyone start contacting the media outlets to force EA/HMX to say something publically. Well by the end of the week one of the major gaming online mags (I won't say which one because I don't want to reveal the editors name) will be writing about it. I contacted an editor and here is what he wrote me back, an impressive 5 minutes after I emailed him, with my original email underneath:

I mentioned in the review the issues I had with the durability of the hardware. Never had a guitar problem, but since the game came out a couple of other editors have had issues with their guitars. I’ve been meaning to write a Soapbox entry on the situation but reviews have kind of sidetracked me from doing it. I’ll probably bust something out later this week, because yeah, the situation is extremely disappointing. Especially considering how incredible the game itself is.

I enjoy reading and watching your game reviews. I'n fact you got me really pumped for Rock Band and had it not been delayed in Canada I would be suffering right now with the rest of the people who's equipment (Drums and Guitar) broke after an average of 4 hours play. Before the Rock Band community site crashed you would be able to read thread after thread of the exact same issue. I find this reprehensible and I really thought XXXXXX would write a story on it to pressure Harmonix and EA to fix their poorly designed equipment. Why the hush hush? I'm kind of glad the game was delayed in Canada as I am still very exited about playing it but I won't buy it in it's current state.

I think EA/HMX better say something soon or they are going to look very bad very soon.

Yea, I just broke my kick pedal the other day playing metallica. I'm a drummer myself and knew the hardware wouldn't stand up. I called support and they had no problem sending me a new one, and I get to keep the broken one. It split in half right below the orange line, still works but broke. Now since I'm getting a new one, I'm going to try to jerry rig it witha piece of metal on top to secure it. Then...hoepfully I can find some kinda of Y connector....double bass?

It's been on Joystiq, Kotaku, and G4 already... I don't really know what showing up on Gamespot will help, since most hardcore gamers also read (or watch) one of the other 3 mentioned, but keep fighting the good fight.

It's only once everyone knows about it that we can be called "total nerds" by everyone in the free world.

I think HMX just **** their pants... Literally, all over the walls. Totally serial right now.

They let you keep the broken one? Really.... they didn't make you send it in?

rumors going around are that if you talk on the phone, and phone only, they will tell you to just throw away the cracked foot pedal. If you filed for it online though, they want it back because one of the options wasnt "My foot petal cracked in half" so they think they can fix it. I kinda regret ordering online cause if it wasnt cracked, it would work fine and i could just buy a metal plate to fix it
