I just want to get a picture of how many people are going/want to pre-order/reserve Rockband (because I DEFINITELY know RB is gonna be a sold out product on release and the holiday season).
I plan on pre-ordering/reserver the full package tomorrow from the gamestop close to my house... Called em and got some info. It's a $25 down payment for the full $200 package, and only $5 down payment for single items.
I just want to make sure that I get it. I'm also sure that a lot of you guys want to make sure you guys get it also. So consider this a reminder that you can pre-order/reserve at the moment :D.
Also, who knows? If everyone pre-orders/ reserves they might ship out more to meet the demand, so no one who wants to rock will be without it.
Hope this is useful to some people :)

I'm wait for some solid pricing and a release date before I pre-order. So perhaps this week?

Probably, but I really don't care about the price because I know it will be reasonable (I'm sure they're trying their hardest to lower it). So I'm not too worried about pre-ordering it before they get an official base price on the products.
The down payments are going to the total cost of the products anyways, so the only thing you'd have to worry about pre-ordering about what? 4 months early? is if you'll have enough money on release... which luckily I don't have to worry about...
Oh and I even have another plus, I'm getting the PS3 version, which I doubt will fly off the shelves as quickly as the 360 version :D

There was a shortage of Guitar Hero II controllers when it was released for the XBox 360 this spring. And that was a release for a secondary platform, and it wasn't even during the holiday season. And they delayed launch of the game for over a month just so they could make more controllers. I believe things will be worse for Rock Band.
It was extremely difficult to find a second guitar at retail. But if you ordered direct from Red Octane like I did, you were guaranteed to get one delivered on or before launch day.
EA is handling distribution, so I think it is very likely there will be direct pre-order capabilities on their online store. I will be using that option.
I don't have to get the new guitar on day one. My 2 X-plorers will be enough to get things started. And USB mic's should be easy to pick up. But I believe there will be a run on the drum kits, so I will be looking to order those from EA.

As soon as there's an official price and release date I'll probably go pre-order it. Chances are by then I still wont have a next gen console to play it on, but I wont be far off.

I'll certainly be pre-ordering, so I get it delivered, which is way better than going out and buying it, especially if it ends up getting sold out. I'm not in any hurry though, I want to see how pricing ends up as well as the release date, and also see if there is any news about a Wii version, before I go buying a 360 and the game. I've waited until a few weeks before the game came out to pre-order it and had no problems, so I am not in a rush to buy rock band, with it being about 5 months before it is released.

yeah.. it kinda sounded like that to me also, but it was 4:00 am and I was pretty tired.
Also ordering directly from EA would probably be a good idea and not even have to bother with going to a store.

I'll pre-order once I know what the SKUs available and costs are for certain.
Hell, who even knows what the NZ release date would be anyway.

As long as it before Xmas, and not too long after U.S. release everything should be cool.

I'm with ya on that. I don't think I'll ever understand what makes the Halo series so great. It like any other FPS, except its in space, and targeted at a younger audience.
