This is a thread for discussing how the game determines the number of fans you will gain when you complete a song in World Band Tour. This thread is focused on fans you get while playing on Expert. Any theories or ideas are welcome.

I'll start out with a couple observations over the last week or so:

- At ~10mil fans, we were playing the "Make your own" 2-song set in San Fran's Alice cafe multiple times, and getting 768k a pop. None of the other sets in that venue had been played.

- Last night at ~25mil fans, we played that same set and got zero (0) fans. At that time, all the sets in that venue were finished and the venue was "checked". So, either checked venues give no (or fewer) fans, or perhaps there is an upper limit on fan count per city. If so, we might be able to piece together what that limit is per city.

- Repeat performances of sets or singles seem to SOMETIMES give more fans, but not always. For example, at around ~10mil fans, we played Highway Star in Reykjavik and got 1.5mil fans. Last night, around ~25mil fans, we played it again and got 100k. Both times it was 5*.

- How well you play a song does not seem to affect how many fans you get. To test this, we picked a city with two singles we had not played. We got 4* on one single and 5* on the other. Both singles gave us 384k.

- Sets with fewer songs seem much more efficient, in general, than longer sets. A typical UNPLAYED (i.e. first time through) 8-11 song set seems to cap out at around 1.1mil fans, whereas UNPLAYED singles (i.e., the first time you play them) can give 384k, 768k, or 1.1mil fans. Now, replay singles seem to give hardly anything (the last replay we tried gave only 51k). We have not tested what a replay setlist gives you.

- We've only done Medium endless setlist. However, based on everything I've seen, it is unlikely that Expert endless setlist gives more than 2mil fans at most. Which means it is not an efficient way to gain fans.

- There is a definite trend towards more fans for the "later" cities, and less fans for the "earlier" cities. For example, unplayed singles in most European cities gave us 768k, while unplayed singles in cities like Boston, Chicago, etc., gave us 384k or less. NOTE that we played all these at around 15mil fans (I'm not comparing these songs at times when we had vastly different fan counts).

- A bizarre exception to the above: we played the Molly Hatchet single for the first time in Rio and got only 51k fans. We had around 25mil at the time, but this still seemed REALLY low.

That's everything I can think of for now. If you have some ideas on how this works, or some data to add to (or even that contradicts) mine, post away!

Here's how I think it should work. For every show you play there is a base fan number based on difficulty, I will use small numbers to make an example.

1 - Easy
5 - Medium
10 - Hard
20 - Expert

So this is the base number for each difficulty. Now, you would multiply that by the number of stars obtained on the song. This would be done once for each member of the band. These would be added and form the total number of new fans. Under this system me and my roommate, one on medium and one on hard could only attain (5*5) + (10*5) = 75 fans for 5 starring a song. A full band playing on expert would be able to attain (4*5*20) = 400 fans. Thus, the full band on expert would have a clear advantage.
