View Full Version : Difference between "Special Edition" bundle and regular?

I know the bundle everybody already has was released on 11/20/07 and is called the "Special Edition" bundle...

But look here at Gamestop (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=200345)...

It's the "regular" bundle, pre-release on 12/7/07...

What's the difference between this one and the one already out?

Considering that the PS3/360 "Special Edition" bundles are no longer on the site but these other bundles are, I would guess that they are the exact same thing, and 12/7/07 is just when gamestop expects more to come in.

Yep, I'm still not sure why they have different names. /shrug

Maybe it was just so the people who bought it on 11/20 could feel "special"! :)

Good to know it's the same thing. Thanks John.

I feel special that you are special.

"special" means you get to play the game "chance." Get a special edition, there is a chance your guitar is defective.

I like living on the edge. My guitar works fine. Down strum is a little firmer than I would like but it still works.

Probably a correction from the original release, since no where on the box does it say "Special Edition", but instead it's just the bundled version.

Special Edition = need to get your equipment replaced by EA.

Maybe these new bundles don't come with the Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld bonus song. Get it? "Special" edition. Yeah, you're laughing.

Speacial Edition= Edition for "Speacial" people

The box pictured says Special Edition whether the text on their site says it or not. It's the same.

Or maybe they're just using the picture of the Special Edition box because they don't have any pictures of the 'non-special' ones yet, and they don't want to have a listing with no picture? ;)

You could be right. I didn't think about that. But......it's not likely. Even if they by some chance don't say Special Edition, I have no idea what could be different. It's not like the Special Edition came with a t-shirt or something extra.

I don't know if this is the only difference but my "bundle" doesn't have the logo'ed drum sticks, where my friends "bundle" does.

However he can't use his headset through his drumkit, yet my headset works on all instruments.

Interesting to say the least

Um yeah just so this speculation doesn't get out of hand...it was already confirmed by like the 3rd post in this thread that the bundle on Gamestop's website is in fact the special edition bundle.

i did notice footage of 'the history of harmonix' amongst other vids in the Community section of the menu (in the game), and mine is the so-called 'collector's edition', anyone know if this does/does-not appear in the 'regular bundle?'

as for defective equipment... my guitar creaks alot, tho it doesn't seem to actually effect gameplay at all (but it is a tad bit irritating/worrysome), and as far as the strummer goes, its a bit looser on the up-stroke but again, it doesn't really matter to me. Oh, and the tilt sensor is a bit partial sometimes, but i'm always too wrapped up in the song at the time to really pay attention as to wether its just me or not.

I believe i have the regular bundle, and i have the same videos on mine as well.

The Special Edition has CGI dewbacks in the background, and Hayden Christenson's ghost now stands behind you at the end of a song, looking proud.
