I am not sure if this should be here or not so if it shouldn't, by all means move it.

They just need Sony to agree.

Its a Harmonix game. It was what they made before they hit huge with Guitar Hero

If they do continue with it, I hope they eventually release both Frequency and Amplitude remakes for the PSP. I've never had a chance to play them (no PS2) and I know I wouldn't have a PS3 to play them on if they released new games.

This would be awesome!

Well, all I can say is that this might turn into one more reason to pick up a PS3, once I'm not useless and broke.

Never got to play Amplitude, but it looks like a pretty neat idea... and trippy, too

As much as I would love - LOVE - to see a sequel to FreQuency/Amplitude, I don't know how well it would really work with the PS3 controller. The way they changed the L2 and R2 buttons made the shoulder button controls feel kinda weird for that game. Still, I would love to see another entry in the franchise on the PS3. The thought of another one with not only more than 25-30 songs, but potentially even DLC as well, is amazing. FreQuency/Amplitude had gameplay where a bunch of music genres could be easily represented effectively - everything from Slipknot to Run-D.M.C. to Dub Pistols. To revisit that territory with the access to artists that HMX has now would be incredible.

I was sort of crushed when I heard a long while back that Sony sort of said "no" when HMX wanted to make a sequel to it for the PSP. Hopefully they'll change their tune one day and the franchise can be resurrected on the PS3. And then I can test the game on Insane for Harmonix if they need me. ;)

Well the article implies that Sony is considering it. I personally have never played Frequency or Amplitude, but isn't it basically GH/RB on the controller? If so I really don't see the problem with the triggers, but that's just me.

I wouldn't bother to mess with the thing anyway

In a way...

The song list wasn't that great... but it was VERY addicting... my friend and I used to stay up all night playing this and making remixes.

It is basically playing RB on the controller, yes. The problem lies with the fact that the L2 and R2 buttons don't end right away when pressed down. Imagine playing the guitar on Rock Band, but two of the five buttons go down way farther than the others for some reason when you press them down. And it's not just that the distance has increased, but you have to apply more pressure to get them to go down all the way.

I don't think it's necessarily a game-breaking control issue, but it definitely doesn't feel as natural as it did on the DualShock 2. For those who played with the default face button controls, it would basically be the same. But I don't know anyone that could possibly have excelled at the game using the face buttons rather than the shoulder buttons.

I would think Sony would jump on something like this. An exclusive title from a developer as renowned as Harmonix is something they could really use. Also, I really need an HD version of Amplitude with (eventually) hundreds of songs for my life to be complete. :D

Well I am planning to maybe go to GameStop or something a picked up a used copy and play it on my PS3. Then I'll see what you are talking about.

Magnet, you used the shoulder buttons to play? I never did, except for freestyling...

EDIT: Even still, only the R2 was used...

I'd love a PSP version of Amplitude. That was the game that made me a HMX fan, and was the first rhythm game I played that used real music.(sorry PaRappa)

Yeah, it's been a while since I've played. But even only using one of them is still a little awkward. I guess it would just take some getting used to.
