So what is it you are listening to when you don't want other people to know what you are listening to? Like you like to show yourself as the hardest mf'er on the planet but sometimes you just have to run a bath, pour yourself a glass of white wine and let the smooth sounds of Toto wash over you. You know what I am talking about.

Yeah.
You had a hard night last night.

Actually for me it IS a glass of wine (red of course, cuz white wine is for sissies!) along with this really cool music channel on my cable - the subterranean music station. It's like music for robots!

GO NINJA, GO NINJA, GO GO, GO NINJA GO.

Please tell me I am not the only one who remembers that one.

When I was a kid, I watched the Turtles movie it was in like 500 times. Sometimes several times in a row.

I listen to all sorts of music and never feel a need to hide it. However, I do have a guilty pleasure in music... the Katamari Damacy OST. If someone made a music video to those songs, it would be about pink fluffy rabbits doing cute things all day long. So, yeah... that's my guilty pleasure.

Dude, I love Bright Eyes.. I admit to liking them.. I saw them live, too.. Plus, they're not emo.. So yeah. Haha..

But, erm.. my Guiltiest Musical Pleasure.. hm.. Drake Bell (the guy from Drake and Josh)? He's not as bad as you would think for being one of those kid actors (even though he's like 20.) Haha.

Again.. I'm not ashamed of anything I listen too. My ipods full of everything from the absolute complete works of Slayer to The White Stripes.

But one thing I don't go around advertising on the net due to the flamefests that can ensue would be The Insane Clown Posse. Been bumpin' to the Wicked **** for over a decade and have loved every minute of it. So did my mom. Me and her been to several shows together as well.

Honestly, I looked through my iPod, and I only found 2 really embarassing ones, and one that I know some people think are fake. The two embarassing ones are Hawthorne Heights (my girlfriend got me into them, and the whole '3 guitarists thing' is pretty cool, not gunna lie) and My Chemical Romance, as backed in a previous thread. And the sometimes considered 'fake' one is Rise Against, but I find nothing wrong with them...

I listen to a pretty wide range of stuff, so probably about half of what I listen to would be considered a guilty pleasure on a rock forum... But the most shameful? Probably either the J-pop stylings of SMAP and Judy & Mary, or Wham!. Also I really the song Scatman... and I sing it while driving.

If having all of your songs sound EXACTLY the same is cool, then fine by me.

And, I don't know what you mean by Rise Against being "fake."

Prescott523
08-06-2007, 05:08 AM
A. You need to hear all their stuff. One guy only plays power chords, so maybe that's where you get the idea from.

B I wasn't calling them fake, I have heard it before though. They're one of my favorite bands.

If I had to choose one, it would probably be Sunny Day Real Estate; admittedly I have not listened to alot of their catalog, I mostly just like the album How It Feels To Be Something On. Probably a close second would The Get-Up Kids; again I have not heard most of their work, only Something To Write Home About.

As far as Toto goes, if you can not get drunk (if that's your thing) and scream the words to Africa with a group of your friends, there may be something wrong with you. The same also holds true for Escape (The Pina Colada Song) by Rupert Holmes.

I'm somewhat surprised that no one has fessed up to Huey Lewis and The News yet, it should only be a matter of time now.

I must say, this is only the second time i've admitted i like the song It's My Life by Bon Jovi

i can't stand Bon Jovi though

His remotely newer (and infinitely overplayed) stuff is garbage, in my opinion. Bon Jovi, waaaay back when he was still rock, had some pretty good songs though.

Runaway, Bad Medicine, Shot Through The Heart are all pretty good.

As an extra note, you know that song that starts off "Shot through the heart!/And you're to blame!"? That song is actually called "You Give Love A Bad Name". He had an earlier one called "Shot Through The Heart" which is actually awesome.

Also, and I'm probably really setting myself up here, but there is ONE track on Kenny G's Live album called "Esther" - that is f*ckin GORGEOUS!

 ,

I feel funny being in here, I have never been so into a video game in my life!!! I feel like a jerk though, I bought guitar hero III last week, and have fallen in love with it! So much so my girl friend is threatening to leave me!!! How ever I feel stupid now knowing that this will be even better then GH!!! Man even the web site blows the other one away!!! I even went out and bought a second multi pack to get another guitar! I hope rock band will have the separate guitars available, I do not want to have to fork down four hundred bucks to have both guitars!!! Man the guitar even looks much better! Wondering, looks like separate set of keys on bottom of neck, does anyone know? Oh and main question, does anyone know what albums will be released on rock band first, and if we will ever see great bands like Rage Against the Machine put out! Have to imagine the bass in some of there song would rock so hard!!! Well if anyone knows please let me know! Oh and always looking for friends on here so please keep in touch!!! Thank You Fastfreddie:mad:

Well for me also I have a huge lsitening list from pop to death Metal but my alltime band I can't get enough of is Pink Floyd. Man I can listen to them all the time. David Gilmour's Solo release On an Island is en excellent album to sit and relax to after a hard days work. Thats why I wish so much for some Pink Floyd to be in Rock Band...

I think you have to be able to listen to other types of music to appreciate just how great the rock genre is. Therefore I listen to everything from Fergie, Britney Spears, and Gwen Stefani to Shania Twain, Kelly Clarkson, and Rihanna. =) My like for any other genre can't compete with my love for rock in all its forms! It's the only genre that's outlasted all others when my preferences are at war!

The Grateful Dead are most defidently not a guilty pleasure, more like a way of life. I don't understand why Neil Diamond is on alot of these posts either, he's a brilliant songwriter!

My guilty pleasures, Jay Farrar/Son Volt (Post-Trace), Phish... I've never even admitted to liking more than 1 song before..., The Wallflowers, Captain and Tennille, Dancing Queen, and I also LOVE Stevie Nicks solo!

Eurobeat.

If you've seen the Japanese version of Initial D or played the arcade games, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Has to be, without a doubt, the corniest music on the planet, but it's so addicting to listen too!

I also rock out pretty hard to Avril Lavigne's "Losing Grip". Somehow.

I mostly like to listen to adult-alternative (that's what they call it, I think) when I'm not feeling my modern rock/alternative stuff. Bands like Matchbox Twenty (one of my faves), The Fray, OneRepublic, Jack Johnson, even some of the older John Mayer. Also, Jimmy Buffet's another guilty pleasure, but I confessed my "love" for him in the official DLC thread.

I also like a lot of 80's pop music, stuff like The Fixx, The Go-Go's, Flock of Seagulls, The Cure, and U2's older stuff.

Well, I have no problem admitting that I like some musical theatre or that I love Heat of the Moment by Asia, but I'm always slightly embarassed to admit that I liked the album American Idiot or the song All the Small Things, there was also this one incredibly cheesey, awful metalcore band called The Storm that I was obsessed with last year for like two weeks.

I'm not a big fan of them or anything but I definately enjoy rocking out to "Don't Stop Believing" and "Anyway You Want It" (not too familiar with other Journey songs though) and Life After Death is one of my favorite albums.

As for me, I'm pretty unashamed of what I listen to so I guess I don't have "guilty pleasures" since I'll profess my love for songs I like regardless of what people think.

Here's the stuff I get a lot of **** from my friends for listening to:

Limp Bizkit (strangely enough, my friends used to like them before it became cool to hate on them...)
Mr. Bungle (because "nobody else listens to them")
The Notorious B.I.G. (not so much these days, but I used to get a lot of crap from this one)
The Beach Boys (Not too much, but I did have a near 2 hour argument with a friend of mine about how The Beach Boys are amazing so I think that counts for something).

Bands I like that I surprisingly don't get a lot of **** for listening to:

Madonna
Michael Jackson
Paramore (though I only actually like 2 songs by them)

Have to go with "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley...that songs fraking CATCHY. Also, my favorite song (well mainly music video) at the moment is "Handlebars" by Flobots. I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE rap for my own reasons, but this song and music video...are the one exception.

People just think im weird for those though...only embarassing or guilty pleasure for me is Good Charlotte...pretty much all their stuff too except maybe a bit off the newest album.
