Xbox 360 Mic

I havnt seen this anywhere on the boards before but has anyone else got a mic that doesnt work? I plugged it in the hub and it doesnt even detect it. Is there something special I'm supposed to do to turn it on or something? Am I an idiot...maybe. But it kinda sucks not having the mic. If it for sure F'ed up I have to wait until Feb. to get one right? Will I have to send it back or will I be able to just take it to a store and swap it out. Thanx for your help everybody....I AM JONAS

You have to have your 360 controller turned on in order for the mic to be picked up. I had this problem to begin with also.

Manual clears this up a bit. But you have to have a standard 360 controller on in order for the mic to show up. This is so that you can navigate menus and such.

Oh, ok. So I am an idiot. A normal guy, I dont read manuals or instructions. Thanks a lot though. Too many drunken nights have gone by where we could have been singing like asses but we thought the mic was broke. Another quick question. You know how the controller turns off after a certain amount of time of inactivity...is that going to happen when playing the game and the mic will all of a sudden not work? BTW, thanks for your help.:cool:
