Hi all,
I live in Australia and imported Rock Band 2 for the Wii and I can access the store justt fine and browse and preview tracks. When I go to purchase a track, I get an error that says "Unable to complete purchase. Please contact EA customer support".
When I try and purchase a free track, it brings up the part showing how much the track costs and my Wii Points balance etc, and when I choose to download it, I get an error saying that I have insufficient Wii Points.. huh?
Has anyone else had this issue and can offer a remedy?
Thanks for everyone's time.

Without an official answer, my only guess is that the Nintendo Pay 'n Play system accesses the Wii Shop Channel for purchases (a giveaway is the "All Content Owned by Nintendo" message that appears onscreen before you log into the Music Store). Seeing as the Wii Shop Channel differs per region, it seems that our systems aren't permitted access the location where all the songs are stored for US versions of Rock Band 2, regardless of having Wii Points or not.
As they say in Marrakech: "Your money is no good here".
How does that assumption grab you? For owners of PAL Wii consoles, it's impossible to change the region to US (a procedure used to override Virtual Console access, allowing Australian owners to purchase titles only available in the UK at the time - a process that Nintendo eventually patched over), so that leaves us in a rut.
I am wondering if the US copy of Rock Band 2 will eventually be able to access the PAL / Australian Music Store or will the disc automatically attempt to log into the US Music Store, because of how it was programmed?
Disappointing, because there are tons of songs I'd love to buy. I guess the game itself will have to tide me over until Rock Band 2 gets released in Australia in 2014..

I have bought the rock band 2 game from the US because the is a huge wait for it to come to our shores and playing it over in AUS i to get the same error surely there is answer to solve it

Since the region coding is US, I would assume it will always try to connect as such... And most developers aren't into supporting importers, so you guys are probably going to have to shell out another $50 to access DLC when the game drops in your region. Hopefully there won't be save issues when you make that jump.

Im sure it will be a case of starting from scratch again as most saves are only compatible with the region of origin.
Ah well.

hi, i got rb2 for xmas and i was getting the same msg... unable to complete download contact ea support... and when you try to purchase a free download, it looks like its gonna start by telling you how many points you'll have after download etc, but then says you've insufficient wii points to complete download... but you've more than enough! im from the uk cos its just been released here, but ive found that very occasionally (say early in the morning or not at peak times) it lets me download one song, before telling me the same **** again if i try to download another! it can be hit & miss, and i find if you try at peak times you've no chance! so its best to try (i find) early in the morning, but it bugs the hell out of me that i can only download one song every few days!

I have the exact same problem! I'm in the UK and I got RB2 for Christmas. For me, it lets me buy the first song, but when I select others, it says "unable to purchase..."
I tried calling EA for answers, but I was not willing to wait more than 20 minutes for someone to talk to.
Someone else suggested that it may be a bug on the server and that we could buy the games, but it's EA's servers that were stopping us...

Hi i live in sweden and got the same problem. its just the new songs that you can't download and gives you the problem. If you get the problem just start the store again and download old songs and free songs and try to not purhase a new song. hope that helped a little. (have downloaded all free and 6 that cost)

Ok, so the deal is some of the songs from the new batch for EU (PAL) wii users will give you the error, once you have had the error you will get it with every other song you try to download. Only thing you can do is go out of the store and re-enter and then you can go "hit and miss" try again untill a song gives you the error again and you have to leave again.... (etc. etc.), well since I buy almost all the DLC I have tried to dll (almost) every song and I made a note of which give you the EA error. Below I will write down the bands who give you the error, if you avoid these you can atleast download the songs you want and don't get an error. We will have to wait for a fix to download the ones who do give the error...
(I'll sometimes write between brackets a song that is an exeption (so it CAN be downloaded, if it says CBD it means it Can Be Downloaded).
Avoid these bands if you don't want an error:
Band, The
Black Sabbath
Blink-182 ("All the small things" CAN be downloaded (CBD))
Damone
Foo Fighters ("DOA", "This is a Call" and "Times Like These CBD)
Fratellis, The
Gorillaz
Janis Joplin
Jefferson Airplane
Kings of Leon
Kiss ("Calling Dr. Love" CBD)
Lenny Kravitz
Lush
Mötley Crue (if you sort by band then the first 7 songs from MC can be dlled)
Pat Benatar ("Heartbreaker" CBD)
Platero Y Tu
Rancid
Red Hot Chilli Peppers ("snow (hey oh)" and "Tell me Baby" CBD)
Rise Against
Spinal Tap (Back from the Dead, Rock n Roll Nightmare and Saucy Rock CBD)
Squeeze
Steve Miller Band
Thin Lizzy
Tokio Hotel ("Monsoon" CBD)
Weezer (My Name is Jonas, Pork and Beans and Undone CAN NOT be dlled)
Who, The (Only Magic Bus CAN NOT be dlled)
Avoid these bands and you can download the rest without having the error.
Of course these are the ones I am getting an error on so it may be different for you guys (but I doubt it).
Side note: I wasn't going to buy all these songs but since it isn't required to actualy buy the song to see the error message I could just try it out with everything.
It took some time and determination... (entering the shop, error, leavin the shop) to get all this information :P but I hope it helps you guys!
Good Luck and let's hope the fix comes fast!!!

I live in the UK and also got RB2 for Xmas. Managed to download 5 songs to Wii memory before it said it couldn't download any more. RB2 not capable of using my 32GB SD card, so I purchased a 2GB SD card specifically for RB2 DLC. Although RB2 recognizes new card, it still won't download.

Have just followed the advice per rockbandyay’s above advice & have managed to download more content, just nothing from the above unavailable list :( - which is a pity, as many of the tracks I actually want to purchase are by these artists. Would love to know when this gets resolved.

grr its sucks that this is still happening. i managed to get a few, and i mean 'a few' of the songs that i wanted, but alas most of the good ones are unavailable. your list doesnt say this but Evanescence isnt available either.. which sucks!

Same thing here... i'm really, really pissed!
As if it wasn't enough having the list shortened (don't know about you guys, but i don't have many, and i mean MANY (Queen for instance) dlc comparing to the official DLC list), i even got a WiiPoint related error when trying to purchase one of the 0 (ZERO) WiiPoint music.
At least some info EA!
Even a "Sorry Wiidudes from other countries than US, no can do. BL!" would make me much happier!

Your "0 wiipoint" error comes from you trying to download one of the broken downloads. Just exit the store and re-enter it, then pick your free download , just don't try to get one of the song in the list of broken DLC.

Hmm, i see...
Thanks.
Re-following: do you think these "broken contents" will be eventually fixed? Is there any official information at all ?

well, good news for me. i had a lucky streak earlier when i attempted to purchase songs. i found one that i could purchase, unlike before, and following someones advice on here about when you find one thats errored, go out of store and back in and try again, it worked. i managed to get all the songs, well, ok maybe not all of them, but most of them, of the ones i wanted and didnt have any problems. shame about kings of leon and the fratellis, but im not that bothered.
yay!

According to some the broken downloads have been fixed: http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167137
Regarding the OP, does the Australian Wii use the European Wii Shop? If not then you won't be able to purchase songs from the music store since the European version of RB2 would presumably use the European Wii Shop for Wii points information.
