Is it possible to change instruments or at least change who the band leader is on world tour? We want to play world tour, but my friend wants to make his own character on drums, but our drummer is our band leader so it doesn't work. Is it even possible to change them? If not, why?

No.

Band Leader has to be the same avatar on same instrument. Who actually plays him/her is up to you. The other instruments can switch.

The idea is that without the leader, there is no band. What would happen if Jon Bon Jovi were not in Bon Jovi? Or Van Halen without Eddie? Or Milli Vanilli without... wait... bad example.

Yeah, it makes some amount of sense, but in practice, this is a big pain. The entire band/instrument management things is my only real problem with the game right now. Most people I know have at least two BWT bands, one with a drum leader, and one with a guitar leader.

There are obviously real world examples you could use as to why it's there, but it's really more trouble than it's worth within this videogame. Especially right now for me, since my band leader is the guitarist and I'm waiting for my replacement. I see no real practical point to it.

I have to agree that the band leader / instrumet thing is a problem. I have a group of 6-8 friends who want to play and have our own characters so they can design them however they want. The problem is the singer is our current leader, and yet we have one other person who wants a character on vocals, but we can't swap out the singer. The only way currently around that is to have multiple bands, which means we have to unlock areas multiple times and we can't focus on jhust one band to go through the game.It may be somewhat realistic that the leader defines the band, but this is a game still and some things that may be realistic can actually hinder the enjoyment of the game.

I hope they patch it so that any character can play any instrument. It's too annoying otherwise. What if i want to drum and sing at the same time, i have to start all over? Lame.

the leader is by far the worst part about bwt, if it werent for that everything would be fine. when i got the game and created my first band, i was vocals(leader) friend was guitar, and brother was drums. which is ok. but now i want to have my drummer in, but cant cause i cant play without my lame ass singer. i dont mind creating bands, but its goin to get to the point of whos what and what are we doing. You should just be able to cruise through and replace, like non leaders can. maybe the leader got strep and can't sing, but we want to get some loot. not to mention it is a dang game, come on now, i know we want to feel the real thing, but that hinders alot. side note wth can't i find a delete character option? am i just ******ed, much like the design of the kick pedal?

side note, i played with other friends and that band is farther in tour, but that leader is also vocals. and i aint goin to deny it, i suck at singing, so i cant move on with it either. career wise. to many downfalls.

If you wanted to sing and drum you'd need two characters anyway.

Tonight we actually had 4 people playing and trying new instruments. We couldn't play the band (progress is waaaay too slow to have any more than one) without my guitarist character which is the leader despite the fact that I was not going to play guitar. Workaround solution is to log the guitarist in as me and me as the guitarist's original profile so she could play my character and I could play hers so we could actually access the band.

Who decided it was a good idea to shut down the whole band because one key character wasn't present? God help you if there's 2 or 3 of you and no one wants to play the lead's instrument.

I think this needs fixed. I get tired of drumming but no one else can do it so I am stuck doing it. I want to play guitar but cant as my band because the lead is the drummer. PATCH THIS!!

What about the fact that Van Halen has had 3 singers, as had Black Sabbath? Metallica has had 3 Bass players and Ozzy has had 3 Lead Guitarists.

The list of bands that have continued on to stellar careers after the loss of a "leader" is pretty long.

So even the presumed theory behind this SNAFU is off the mark.

In my opinion, this and the fact that one avatar can't play and sing simultaneously are the 2 most glaring problems. Oh, and no online solo world tour. And the fact that you can't pick your NPC band..........

I understand the gripes, but... I don't get the frustration. Whatever your skill level is, you can cap out pretty quickly.

Maybe I'm just "geekier" than I thought.. I pretty much just use the ole' Mr. Rogers Land Of Make Believe and pretend that I'm one of the guys from SlipKnot.

So I play guitar for "The Peppers" with my wife... because she's a legendary lead singer and that's where I make my bucks and have 600,000 fans. I'm a hall of fame guitar player, but lately... touring has been getting a little stale. I need something else in my life.

Years of being a musician and being around musicians has given me the desire to be the drummer for "Stolen Soul". Figuring that I might have some issues with getting fans, I enlist my wife to sing for my band and we get a whole new guitarist and bass player.

Yet and still... I decide that in my off time I want to do something more personal, so I have a complete solo act where I sing and play bass.

In game terms, I have three different bands and my wife has two.

We play our main BWT until we capped our skill level, and while we both practice up for Expert level on both of our instruments, we also toy with other bands.

It's not THE solution... but it sure is another way to look at it. I WANT the ability to play any instrument at any time with ONE character. But, the game PLAYS the same no matter what.

Eh, heres hoping I inspire some frustrated people to throw back a few beers/shots and play some "make believe" to lower thier frustration.
