Sadly enough, to the "casual gamer" that's exactly what Rock Band appears to be. Tons of people don't pay that much attention to the developers of the games they play, and there's an ACTIVISION logo on every single Guitar Hero game, including the ones made by HMX. It's not a hard leap to make if you're not really paying close attention to the whole situation.

It's kinda like how Madden is seen simply as an EA SPORTS game, and no one cares that it was made by Visual Concepts (the developers that later made the NFL2k series) at one point and later by Tiburon. All they see is EA.

It's not right, and hopefully Forbes will print a correction at some point, but it's a really easy mistake to make.

Pretty hilarious that a "serious and well respected business mag" can have such hack writers. It sounds like the writer was just fed info by Mr. Douche Kotick, and ran with it. Oh well, even if its a shameless knockoff, its better in every single aspect so...

looking at all the threads just here alone and some of the posts that were left on their site.
i sent an email to the editors of forbes which basically said get your facts straight, research your stories before you put them out there in general, and please have the writer post an addendum to his article so that he doesnt look like such a goon.

To be completely fair, this situation is literally quite shameless. There's really no reason for there to be any shame from Harmonix. :)
