View Full Version : Is the Rock Band 2 guitar worth getting?
I'm really getting tired of my old Rock Band guitar because it is very hard to strum and the clicking is really annoying. I heard the Rock Band 2 guitar's buttons don't click and the strummer is a lot easier to use. So is it really worth getting. I ask this to the people who own a Rock Band 2 guitar. Or recommend an off-brand guitar that works just as well.

Personally, I'd stick with the RB2 Strat (unless you're interested in the Mad Catz P-Bass, which is pretty cool). Any of the other third-party guitars I've tried have been found to be lower quality.

I love my RB2 Strat. The buttons are so much less clicky, and the strummer isn't as mushy (you can feel a definite stopping point). And the Auto-Calibration stuff works great.

Get the Les Paul.
So should I sell my old RB1 strat for the RB2 strat?

Get the RB2 Strat, and keep the RB1 Strat for when you have people over to play.

I don't know that you'd get a hell of a lot for a RB1 guitar anymore.
What I'd do is keep it for spare parts, or fix up the strum bar with one of those ByteArts strum fixes and then do the fret button tuning with aluminum tape that Doc wrote about.

I have the new wireless guitars for both RB2 and GHWT. The RB2 guitar is definitely the quietest but the kind of slippery feel of the strummer hinders you and makes you work a lot harder on runs of fast notes. It's good but I think the GHWT guitar is better IF you can tolerate the way the strummer clicks. The GHWT guitar is less expensive, too.
I hope more controllers will eventually become available that have a split strummer like the MadCatz bass. That was really a stroke of genius on their part. Too bad the rest of the controller is shoddily built, not wireless, and unnecessarily enormous.

I have the new(er) RB1 wireless and RB2 wireless guitars, and my friends always fight over the RB2 one. The fret buttons aren't just more quiet, but also seem to play a little more smoothly and faster, making solos a little easier (my opinion). The strumbar has a definite stopping point and helps you keep rhythm without the annoying click. If you buy it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

RB2 Strat is my new #1 plastic axe, I love it.

I still have all my instruments from RB1--the only upgrade I've invested in, since, has been the RB2 strat and I have to echo everyone else's positive feedback on it. The RB2 guitar is far better than my RB1 guitar in pretty much every way.

RB2 Strat, hands down. You won't get much for your RB1 strat, might be a good idea to keep it for bass, you know, if you have friends over.

Auto calibration is worth it alone!!!!! Rb2 strat all the way baby!

the auto calibration did in 30 seconds what it took me about an hr to do manually and it was very accurate.... so thats pretty cool.
there is a very definite stop point on the strum bar which is different than the rb1 strat (im still trying to get used to that).
the frets are quieter for sure.
id say that if you need a new controller, its a good one to get... there isnt really anything to it that makes it a must have, but it does have some improvements.
on the idea of selling your rb1 strat, id say to keep it in case of emergency/unexpected visitors wishing to play.
you're not going to get much for it anyway.

ther auto calibration is the best thing about it. and u only use it for that for about 30 seconds. the guitar buttons are quiter, but they are still loud compared to the GH guitars. the strum bar is excelletn as well, but its still not as good as the GH strum bars.
but if ur into the effects switch and the solo buttons, definately get a RB2 strat. but if u dont use the solo buttons or the effects switch, id say get a GH guitar. its all a matter of preference and usage.
