JS:

Thread Adapter: for different types of Clutches

Clutch: thats the thing that holds the mic (that you slip it into)

I thought the clutch is the thing you use to make the stand go up and down... A clip is what holds the mic

Yes, unless it explicitly states it comes with one.

The thread adapter means that the top of the pole has a threaded adapter to put stuff on it.

The clutch is the little twisty tubular bit that locks the telescoping action in place. If it's a boom mic, the lockable "elbow" is also called a clutch. Metal clutch just means it's not plastic and should last longer.

Clips are dirt cheap, they don't sell them with stands since there are so many choices and mics around. Should find one for $3 to $7.

Just a hint, the Rock Band mic tapers from 30mm to 32.5mm. Quite a few clips are going to be a little small/tight for the RB mic so make sure you get one the right size.

I'm in the same boat as you, only I think I might buy the ProLine mic stand for $20 instead of the Muscian's Friend for $13.

do you have a link for that stand? Im not sure if im gonnna get that one. i was looking on ebay but none of them are just regular stands they have that boom thing and it looks pretty unecessary (and weird) for a game.

If there's a guitar center near you, you can buy clips that fit the rock band mic for cheap. Mine only cost 5 bucks, and fit on my regular mic stand. You could also see if they have good prices on mic stands there as well.

Indeed I do. Guitar Center has a really nice website and reasonable prices. It seems to be the "NewEgg" of audio/music gear. It has both the stand you are considering (same price as you quoted) as well as the one I mentioned, plus a dozen or two more.

On the topic of booms, I too thought about which was better. The best part is that the boom is a separate part that you can buy later after you get a mic stand. It simply would screw on to the top of the pole and the clip goes on the end of the boom. It's all modular and rather flexible. You can also buy a mic stand that comes with a boom and take the boom off for "straight pole" type functionality.
