Over the weekend, I had my friends over and we played basketball up at the community center and, of course, PS3, so that drove me away for a little while. And then there was yesterday...
I hated yesterday. I had to stay after school until four o'clock (two hours after dismissal) and wait for our bus out to River Falls, Wisconsin. I worked the entire time on homework, but I couldn't get even half of it finished before I had to go change and hop on the bus. We rode in the bus with the B-Squad and JV teams, so the bus was at its capacity. Luckily, I'm a big dude height-wise, so my legs took up an entire bus seat. No sharing seats for me! :D Anyways, the bus ride was 45 minutes. I know it doesn't sound like a lot, but when you're in a bus filled with kids who practically hit their heads on the ceiling, it's not so fun. When we finally got to River Falls High School, we went to the locker room for the pre-game talk. Then we warmed up for like 45 minutes. The refs were late, so at 5:45 (the scheduled game time), they were not there. An hour passes. At 6:45 they show up...finally. It's game time! We won handily, and my free throw streak went up from 9 in a row to 13 in a row in the last 4 games. :D
It's about 8:05 when we get out of the locker room and I leave. I haven't eaten dinner yet. Stupid refs...
We stop in Hudson at 8:25 for dinner at Wendy's. I wanted to go to B-Dubs (Buffalo Wild Wings), but my dad said it was too much money. I felt dejected. Honestly. I really did. I, R-Dubs, was denied my basic right of B-Dubs! And, yes, people really do call me R-Dubs (at least, the people on my team do).
I get home at like 10 pm. I'm tired, I want to go to sleep, my body aches, I'm sore and bruised, but I still have 2 more hours of homework...
...which ended up taking literally all night. I had zero hours of sleep last night AFTER MY BASKETBALL GAME. I had an Honors English quiz today on two of the longest chapters of a book we're reading. Guess what? He postponed the quiz. Wow. Typical. I read 75 pages, forcing me to stay up all night, for THIS???
We had a speaker on chastity and premarital sex today, instead of my normal second hour science class. World-renowned speaker on the subject; Pam Stenzel (http://pamstenzel.com/) was her name. She's not that great. Really. She ****ing yelled at us for like two hours about diseases and viruses that can be transmitted sexually. I wanted to fall asleep during that speech. I was tired. I had no sleep. But I couldn't fall asleep...BECAUSE SHE WAS ****ING YELLING THE ENTIRE TIME!!! I mean, really? Is it absolutely necessary to yell? She had the mic held at her waist, yet it was STILL loud. I think even if she hadn't had a mic, I probably still wouldn't have been able to fall asleep. I'm not saying she didn't touch on vital areas (no pun intended), she just did so in a manner that had me thinking more about her tone than I did her message.
After school, I had (whaddya know?) basketball practice. By this point, I'm dragging my ass on the floor because I need sleep so much. Coaches don't like that too much. So I pulled together all of my energy into one drill where we caught the ball and drove the lane for a layup. This drill was intended to show the coaches how high we could jump. I went full-on at the hoop and dunked it. Yeah, me; that skinny 6 foot 3 white kid. Man I was happy. I had to do something impressive, or else my coach wouldn't give me playing time anymore. I was happy with myself, and the rest of the basketball team was going ballistic. It was great. :D
Now I'm going to go sleep; I needed typing practice for Computer Literacy. ;)
