Negative Audo Delay?

I did about five calibrations for Rock Band on my CRT TV and I got negative delays all the time, my current one being -17 audio and 0 video. But I don't understand that, because if it's a negative delay, doesn't that mean it's processing it before it happens? Can my TV see the future?

Because that'd be awesome if it could see the future, I'd sell it on eBay for -$17.

Are you hitting the calibration beat early in anticipation of the audio?

And if you are selling it for -$17, that means you're paying $17 to get rid of it.

I was thinking maybe I was, but I've done the calibration over and over, I've gotten the sound pretty much perfectly lined up with the noise the drum pad makes and the game's sound. Even if I hit a little late I never get a positive delay. This setting also feels perfect, I'm hitting a lot more than I usually would and I'm playing to the music, not the notes.
