View Full Version : Anyone having fret button issues? Xbox owner

My Strat worked for a couple hours the first time I played Rock Band, but then everyone started failing repeatedly using the Strat. After a couple people gave up, I tried it out and couldn't hit any notes. I then noticed that the green light was on onscreen even with no buttons being pressed. When I press the green button, orange lights up. When I press orange, red lights up. Red yellow and blue are non-functional.

I submitted a warranty claim on the guitar and received my replacement today (very smooth process), but the new one is doing the exact same thing. The guitar works fine in the menu system, but as soon as the song starts, it is useless.

Has anyone else had this issue? The customer service rep I spoke to tonight said it was the first he's heard of that problem. EA is sending a third guitar, but I'm honestly not very hopeful that will resolve the problem. It seems like much too big a coincidence for the same wierd problem to happen twice.

I've tried moving the guitar from the hub to plug directly into the Xbox (front and back), tried rebooting the system, unplugging and reconnecting the guitar....everything I can think of. Next up will be to try it on someone else's console when I have time.

thats very strange, maybe a disk or 360 issue. Call and explain the whole situation

I did, and was told they'd never heard of that yet. I even said I am doubtful it is a hardware problem with the guitar.

I just can't resist bumping myself.

My yellow and green frets have died at times. Twisting the neck and tightening screws resolves it temporarily but I believe its actually a wiring issue and not an issue with the contacts. I ordered a replacement last Wednesday which is lost in the ether somewhere because it still hasn't shipped and emails with support have been of the less than helpful "thank you for your patience with the holiday delay" variety.

yes not only did my strum bar fail, but i also had the fret ghosting thing. where it would freeze on the screen of a particular color. is that a transmitter problem? whats the deal?

Yeah, I have the same issue. I swear the guitar just freezes for a second and doesn't update my new hand positions. I have stared at the screen while I changed the buttons pressed down, to see it take a half second or longer on the screen for it to register. It just seems to "lock up" for like a half send or a second, like 1% of the time. Just killer on the fast songs.

Peace,
-Nick

P.S. I have 2 guitars that both have the issue, and have requested a replacement for one. (No need to send a 2nd replacement if it doesn't work)
