View Full Version : Stuck Up Online Players Make Me Mad

Yeah, so I guess this is pretty much a rant, but I'm sure other people have experienced this too. Me being a girl I probably get it more often, but still, that should be no excuse.

Anyways, I like to play online with people like countless others, I guess I'm always in search of others who are of the same caliber as me, which is pretty hard. lol. Now me, I can can get through pretty much everything, I can play songs like Painkiller, and Panic Attack at 90% or more on all instruments all on expert. Singing would be 100%, it'd my first choice of intsrument. But this particular time I decided to play the guitar. And of course because I'm a girl I've heard plenty of remarks about how I won't do well because of it. Which gives me much satisfaction when I prove to those guys how much better I am then them. I've heard everything from 'pffft ohh a girl' to 'what the ****!!! are you a robot!' which makes me laugh actually. XD But other times I hear things that shock me, one time I was singing, and some guys were talking, and actually said the drummer sucked. o.o I know for a fact that they knew that it would be heard, and the funny thing is, these guys weren't the greatest themselves...

But back to the point, I came along to this one guy, who was pretty good too...BUT, he kept picking guitar leaving me to play bass all the time. And I was okay with that at first, we played all the hard songs so at least it wasn't suuuper boring. But I wanted to play guitar too, I'm always fine with taking turns or whatever o.O but he seemed to be so arrogant and I never got the chance. So after quite a few songs we came to this setlist with maybe 5 or 6 songs. I wanted to play guitar so as soon as he chose it I was quick to the trigger and stole the guitar from him.

Now I've done this before, and last time as soon as I did that, the person left, which is quite sad too. But he didn't leave which I found pretty surprising acutally. So the first song was Bodhisattva and I was doing really well, got to the solo was doing really good there too, around the middle of the solo I maybe missed one or two notes...and that's when the guy I was playing with decided to leave. Now how rude is that? I mean, why would you do that if you're playing with someone who's a good player too? Maybe it's because he didn't like the fact that I was better then him, or maybe he just didn't want to go through a whole setlist on bass, even though he was making me do just that. o.O It just really frustrates me when I don't even get the chance to prove my worth. I don't know if this has happened to others but I'm sure it would make them mad too.

In conclusion, those stuck up players you get online, don't even worry about it, they're probably just not worth playing with anyways. It's no fun to play with people who are rude like that. grrrr.

Yeah I've played with some jerks like that too. I'm usually a drummer though so I don't get that as much. But if you want to play with someone who won't leave you mid-song (unless my connection is bad :p) PSN name is in the sig. I play expert drums and can usually hold my own pretty well (I'm no Ibite or someguy, but I try). Feel free to add me.

ive had my share of "people that leave earlier" on purpose... However... "sometimes" it might not be them leaving.... I was playing the one night with a few people, having fun, yadda yadda... and my PS3 disconnected so I got bumped out... when I got back on, I found myself, finding the same 2 people I was with before... and they kicked me.. it happened to me twice on the "let there be rock" ending ( ya know, the ending thats like 2 hours long lol)...

So granted most of the times, they do leave, but sometimes, it could be just a simple accidental disconnection =\ (whos internet "never" went out?)

ahh yes, I totally understand that too. but the guy I was playing with kind of stopped playing before he left. so I doubt it was a connection issue.

But I know, I've been disconnected my fair share of times too. one time I actually got flamed for it too with some pretty colourful launguage. XD made me laugh though.

i've heard chatter like that from guitarists a few times, but about other players like singers or the bassist. i play pretty well on drums so i never really get complaints, but i get songs which tire me the hell out, so i do one then i bounce

some people just prefer the competitive nature of games, but, its a CO-OP game! there's a duel section for those kinda people, but oh well nothing you can do really

Sorry to hear that. I've had my fair share of people-to-never-play-with-again from doing random groups to the point of only playing with people on the friends list anymore.

I tend to get picked up by a few usual buddies I've made, but if I'm free or there's an opening, we should definitely jam sometime. I like to play more casually online, and tend to go for hours at a time and keep a friendly atmosphere. It's definitely better with voice chat too, but doesn't seem like you'd have the problem of not being able to talk. I leave all the competitive stuff for solo play, where I don't mind restarting a song if I screw up, since I don't think a band would enjoy going through that.

Maybe it's because he didn't like the fact that I was better then him

That's probably it. There are some alarmingly fragile egos online.

Maybe the guy DC'd?

Anyways, when I play with girls on live, they have the tendency to think that they can say whatever they want an get away with it (USUALLY, they can. Most guys on live are sad people.) But, there are a couple Ive come across that are cool.

People are the reason I rarely play online, and when I do it's with people that I know from the forums who are cool.

My problem with online people is sometimes I feel like playing drums online and they get upset when I play on hard because I'm not super great at drums yet. I am a very good expert player on the other instruments though.

I don't have a working headset yet (I've been considering buying one though) so I can only talk to people when I'm singing. That annoys people too. From time to time I've been kicked when playing bass online (and I'm a pretty darn good expert bassist) just for not talking to people. The thing is, I don't feel like talking to some people. Some seem pretty cool and I'd love to talk to them. But others... I've been in bands where a girl will start talking (even just to say hi when she joins the band to be friendly) and the guys will start harassing her. As a girl, I don't feel like dealing with that crap.

Plus I play with guy characters half the time. If you talk and aren't playing a character of the gender you sound like (and I definitely sound like a girl), you get harassed sometimes too. I know - I've seen poor guys playing girl characters get teased for it. Who cares if the gender doesn't match? Guys play Tomb Raider and be a girl in that. Girls play (insert most video games here) and be a guy in that.

I just want to have fun jamming with people. I don't see what's wrong with that.

Anonymity makes for lots of douchebags, so that`s what you can expect when you play with random matchups on Xbox Live.

I feel for you, though. It`s not fun to play like that, and that`s why it`s more fun to play with folks you know, especially from the forums here :)

I tend to go online without a mic, and when I'm not using a mic, I use a female character. There is actually a good reason for that though, as through extensive trial and error, I discovered that people are less likely to boot a silent player with a female character than one with a male character. It also helps when you start kicking ass (unless the guitarist is the head of the band, in which case kicking his butt online is a bad idea). I'm referring to Band World Tour, for the record. People are far less cooperative with silent players on Quickplay.

Hearing about issues like that, as well as some of the elitism regarding expert players, is why I never got into random online play and just stuck to playing online with friends. I play to have fun and would rather play with people that don't care if I have to drop down to hard for some songs, just as I don't care what level they play at.
