I thought this was pretty obvious from the start.

When you play drums...

do so without a shoe.

First rule I implemented with my friends...If you play drums...take your shoe off.

It may not be rock n roll to do so...but wuttya gonna do? eh?

Yea, I threw a NY accent in there at the end.

It may look Canadian but believe me it's New Yorker, I live in Texas but for some reason the job I work is full of New Yorkers. I also play Call of Duty 4 with them on Xbox live, you can constantly hear them shooting someone up then saying things like "HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT EH?!" Kinda if like how you say "huh?" you know?

More common sense:

Keep your heel on the ground. You will greatly increase your chances of breaking your pedal if you lift up your whole foot and put all of the force on the weak middle part of the pedal. You should be applying force with the front of your foot to the spring.

So New Yorkers speak like Canadians? Because that's pretty much dead on as far as how we use it up here.

No canadians pronounce it "AY" right? Long A, like you would say "eight."

New Yorkers say it like a short E. The way you say it in Spanish.

I can't believe nobody else has heard this...

Ok, I see what you're saying. It's just that when the Canadian way of saying it is in writtern form, it's "eh".

The drum tutorial will show you how to play correctly. I also agree i dont allow friends to play drums with shoes on either. I mean its a plastic video game toy for crying out loud.

I'm from NY, just pointing out if you try to make it sound like a Brooklyn accent you can see why he spelt it that way.

Im from NY and I dont say "eh" sorry....Don't know where you got that from.

But on topic.....Yes I always play with my shoes off and also keep my foot down the whole time. This helps considering you dont need to bring your foot all the way down, but rather half way down decreasing the force dramatically, which in turn prevents the pedal from breaking. If someone else is going to play they will do the same because I like to take care of my equipment :) Plus it doesn't hurt your foot as much keeping it down :p
