First let me say my drums were working fine up until an hour ago, i started to get the missing notes on fast drum rolls on the red pad. Well i took the pad off and noticed the sensor that is mounted to the back side of the pad came loose ( its held on with 2 small screws ) I tightened the screws and reasembled the pad and its working 100 % again.

I dont know if this will fix the drums that were broken right out of the box, but its worth a shot. Take care when tightening the screws you dont want to break the clip.

Im sure the same will apply for the other pads that have missing notes.

Edit: Take care when removing the pad, there held in with 4 rubber lock gromets, you can dislodge them with relative ease buy pulling up at each of the 4 locations. Once they are freed up take care not to pull the wire thats connected to the pad, you will rip it from the connection. Also take care when replacing the pad, you dont want to pinch the wire between the foam cushion and the plastic base.

This may also explain why the taping method works...When taped down the sensor has nowhere to bounce around.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I tried this and didn't have any success though. The screws were alread as tight as they will get. I also taped a piece of cardboard shaped like the orange piece to the inside on the middle of the base. No luck with that. Anyway, my red drum is doing the same thing. It's not picking up hard hits. If I do a quick double-hit it doesn't pick up the 2nd hit. I can do the same to my other drums and they pick it up just fine.

I'm using tape right now and it works perfectly but I shouldn't have to tape new drums. I don't mind having to fix it as long as there is some kind of permanent fix for the inside.

Man sorry to hear that....My trigger/sensor was loose and upon tightening it worked, i thought maybe i was on to something.

The interesting thing is, when the pad is taped down the trigger works fine. leading one to believe that there is a broken wire either at the sensor or in the wire itself, or at the connection point ( clip ).

When the pad is struck with an easy roll it works fine ( alot less vibration ) and when struck hard it loses connection. Sorry just thinking and typing out loud....LOL

Has anybody tried wedging something between the base and the pad around the outside perimeter, making it more solid to get rid of the bounce? I geuss its the same as taping but alot cleaner looking.

What is the "taping method"? I assume this is supposed to help with the red drums sensitivity or something? Where am I to put the tape?

There is a post on here somwhere that shows how to tape the pad down to the base to get rid of the bounce...Basically you depress the pad down and tape on the pad in an X formation to hold the pad down...It gets rid of the air cushion between the pad and the base.

That sounds about right to me. I forgot to try that other method. Disconnecting the plug inside the pad and then plugging it back in. It could work. Who knows. I have heard a few people have had success with that. I think I might try it in a minute.

Stevenam81,

They've already said that trying to fix your own instruments may result in you being charged for a new one if you then try to return it using the warranty replacement system.

One question.

Why?

It would have made more sense to use something more on topic
