View Full Version : Wii Friend Code Issue

So I sent my Wii into Nintendo for repairs last week. I made it very clear to them that I had alot of console-sensitive information (like RB2) and DLC that I did NOT want to lose. Nintendo got the Wii (a new data-transfered one) back to me today and everything was fine... Except for RB2!

When I first put my SD of DLC in (before booting of course), the game wouldn't recognize it! I took my SD to the computer and found it had become corrupted somehow (I hadn't used it since I sent my Wii out). I then formatted my SD and downloaded all of my 38 songs again... Then I went to go play online, and the servers seemed dead (no friends on, and I have ALOT). So I went to 'Manage Friends' and my FC is completely different! The odd part is all of my information and bands are still alright. I thought my profile name was attached to the friend code (thankfully it isn't).

The big problem now is I have to try to exchange almost 50 FCs again... Which I am not looking forward to doing. I'm guessing this may be an issue with the Big N (all of the 1st party titles had NO issues)... But I thought I'd post to see if this had happened to anyone else or if this actually could be a HMX issue I should report. If Ninty transferred ALL my data (including my RB2 profile name and band, as well as local scores from DLC), shouldn't my FC be the same?! This is driving me insane!

That's a little painful, probably the issue with transferring your friends had to do with the fact that they're friends with your old id, not the new one. Not sure if nintendo is able to update them or not though.

Good luck recovering the fc's.

I think you are misunderstanding my problem. My profile name and all of my information is as I otherwise left it when I gave my Wii to Nintendo. Except for some reason my FC has completely changed and all of my friends are gone. (Profile names and FCs are supposed to be attached to one another.)

I think the Friend Code is derived from a machine specific identifier so it will be different on all of your games now. It sounds like they were able to move the data that is not machine specific (except for your SD card). I bet your SD card would have needed to be refreshed from your "new" concole.

I guess I started using FC and ID interchangeably, should have said 'friends with your old fc'.

At any rate, what Jankee said :)

It's not. That's what freaked me out. My FC is only different in this, and my GH games. None of my other games had an FC change (including all first-party titles).
