For fun i took the top 10 that i think would be great for the game but i dont see making it because either the band isnt well known enough or the band themselves probably dont want their songs in the game and put them in a poll.
Which of these bands would you like to see in the game?
In addition to the ones above here are some more good bands that would be great but probably would never happen:
a perfect circle
Atari Teenage Riot
The Beatles
Bloodhound Gang
Cake
The Cure
Flaming Lips
Manowar (cheesie yes, but would be a hell of a lot of fun to play)
Sonic Youth
Strapping Young Lad or Physicist
The Tea Party
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

What is wrong with you? Calling these bands horrible. 8 of them are classic. Sorry if they're not Britney Spears maybe that would spike an interest with you.

100% agreed on Pixies. All are decent band really, but the Pixies are my favorite out of the choices. The Pillows would also be an excellent choice, but I don't know how the RB devs would feel about including Japanese songs in the game. Actually, singing in Japanese isn't that hard. My 9 year old little brother can do it semi-competently. :P

Well considering how many votes hit this poll as quick as they did i'd say that most would disagree. Also a number of those bands helped to spur revolutions in music that changed the face of certain genres (Bauhaus, Joy Divison, Sonic Youth, TOOL, Faith No More just to point out a few). Then of course a few of them are some of the most popular bands in the world (the Cure, The Beatles, Pink Floyd anyone?)
Oh and i hate to break it to all you metal heads, but there are a lot of heavy bands out there that owe a tremendous amount of inspiration to Clutch. Not only that i've met guys from tons of metal bands from Slayer, to System, to LAmb of God, to Hatebreed, to Nothingface, to Shadowsfall, just to name a few (perks of living a hop away from nyc). And news flash: they don't listen to nearly as much metal as you would think. Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE MUSCIANS and most muscians, no matter what kind of music they play appreciate music of all kinds. If some of these metal heads new that their favorite bands were rockin Coltrane on their tour bus they would have a heart attack.
And lastly: industrial music WOULD NOT EXIST without Skinny Puppy. Tell me one other industrial band that started in the mid seventies and ill give you a cookie.
And i would try to explain to you how a little known band named Can from the 60's is considered the godfather of industrial music, but im sure it would go right over your head.
edit: oh and if metal is your thing than you should really evaluate your comment in regards to Strapping Young Lad and Physicist. They are just about two of the heaviest bands you will every hear. Dhevin Townsend will blow yout a new arsehole.

Pixies really should be in this or Guitar Hero. They are simply classic and kick started the inspirations of both Nirvana and Sonic Youth which in turn started the grunge movement that gave us bands like Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soungarden.
Learn your music history folks before you make statements about bands you know nothing about. (not directed at you Xzy).

Sorry but i cannot stand ICP, Juggalos are a little too intense and creepy, no offense if you are one.
GWAR would definately be a funny and fun addition though.

You stumped me on a couple of those, but Tea Party of course would be great, and Between the Buried and Me.
Unfortunately it seems they avoid bands in the vein of Atreyu but you never know.
I'll have too look into the bands on there i don't know. hehe

a few others:
Bob Marley (although going against what i said in a previous post, most of his stuff might be sort og boring).
John Fogerty & CCR (although im sure at some point they will show up in this or GH)
Frank Zappa
Mindless Self Indulgence (as someone in another thread mentioned).
Johnny Cash

I voted for:
Bauhaus
Joy Division
Pink Floyd
The Pixies
Tool
I just don't like the "probably won't be part." :)
Oh, and I saw Johnny Cash in your last post. Speaking of, one I keep thinking of is Willie, but that I seriously doubt, although I consider him as much rock as country. Bloody Mary Morning would be great. :)

If there was any true country or folk i would go way oldschool so i agree on Willie nelson, and maybe some Patsy Cline.
Yes and it is sad that i could see none of those bands will ever likely be in.
Pixies and Fogerty/CCR really should make the list at some point. I have doubts about The Pixies, but im sure Fogerty will show up. (FORTUNATE SON!!!)

Preach on Brotha!!! Finally someone representing some Clutch on these boards I dont believe I ever came across them mentioned in my year or so reading the scorehero boards....I dig me some Tim Sult...what song do you feel would translate especially well to GH or Rockband?

I would personally love A Shogun Named Marcus, but i think honestly almost any song would work great from them, reptitive is something Clutch certainly isn't.
I was really surprised when they had Reverend Horton Heat so you never know.
And im not trying to peach, i just really do love music of all kinds and have tremedous appreciation for the process by which bands inpire other bands that then go on to inspre even more. When i find a band i really like i try to follow the line that lead to their birth and then check out the bands that inspired them. Thats how you find bands like Clutch, who System of Down has said is their biggest influence.
And like i said i think people really cheat themselves out of great music because their too narrow minded. Especially metal heads, not trying to call them out because i love metal, but i was metal head in highschool who thought that way, but then when i started working at Tower Records years ago and started going to college ui was exposed to so much new music and began to branch out so much. I actually listen to very little metal anymore. Only the bands that i think are exceptional these days like:
Strapping Young Lad
Meshugga
Shadowsfall
God Forbid
Lamb of God
anything from Metallica from And Justice back (sorry guys but Metallica is one of the worst tradgedies in the music buisness and they suck now).
to name a few.

I love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs :), they definatly should make an appearance, along with many other great indie bands (aka Bloc Party, Modest Mouse, The Strokes, Kings of Leon, The Pigeon detectives, to name a few). The Cure are classics they influenced some of the most popular bands to date including The Killers. Also Joy Division and the pixies have some awesome music, mainly I love there use of the bass.

People like you killed Warped Tour.
Sorry... I have a lot of angst...
As far as Tool, A Perfect Circle, and The Beatles go, don't hold your breath. The Beatles and Tool aren't even on iTunes, much less a videogame. Paul McCartney and Maynard James Keenan are two abrasive and hopelessly self-absorbed musicians. Releasing their music in any form other than silicon or vinyl is pretty much impossible.
I'm cofident the same can be said for Pink Floyd...
It's really a shame, because I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate their inclusion.

Wow Prince and Me First... i didn't even think of them. Me First might be hard because the game designers would probably have to apporach several people for the rights. Prince i could see happening, the question is what? I would go with When Doves Cry. Let people talk, he has some guitar parts that would actually be a hell of a lot of fun. Like him or hate him, he actually is a great guitarist.
And i do believe there is good in every genre you just have to be willing to look for it. Even Rap, Country, R&B, and Emo (gasp - although no one seems to know what emo really is because its not all this ceesie punk goth hot topic crap that everyone seems to think it is).
Virtually anything rap related if its on the radio it sucks. There are some amazing rap artists and groups that never get any play, like Mos Def, Saul Williams, Dead Prez, and the classic, Wu-Tang, plus there are a lot of great underground groups in NYC, Baltimore, Chicago, and most especially Memphis.
As far as country, i do hate all that soap operaie crap and the overly in your face patriotic stuff. But old school country/folk has some great stuff.
And real emo are bands like Far and Sunny Day Real Estate, and most of the real emo bands are all gone now. It was a 90's thing that kind of died with the 90's and most people seem not to know that.

DragonForce - Any of there songs would be terribly difficult and fun.
Hocus Pocus by Focus - This may be a stretch, but it would be a lot of fun and hilarious
watching the singer try to sing along.

Well considering i live in New York, im 28 and i have been going to shows since 94, and have been to 500+ shows easily, that is not the case for me. I have seen more bands than i can count 10+ times. Not trying to brag, but don't assume something about someone who has posted a few times on a message board, because as far as me, you were way off the mark.
Just like everything else, most of what is played on the radio is crap and the good stuff you have too look for. Which i actually said already earlier in this thread. Just because you don't like some of the bands people are discussing doesn't mean we don't know what we are talking about or don't have taste.
Different tastes do not mean bad tastes.

I have to say endeyequote, you seem to have pretty much the same approach to music that I have, from what you've said in this thread, and as such the same tastes (anything good). You've listed a bunch of good stuff, but I have a few other ideas to throw out there too.
The Melvins. (I don't think they've been mentioned in this post, but have been elsewhere).
Mr. Bungle (Obviously listed in the poll but I can't help but re-iterate it, probably my #1 wish for this game. Slowly Growing Deaf would be my pick, or The Air Conditioned Nightmare.)
Frank Zappa (Also already said, but I would think it would be very fun. Not sure what song though, Apostrophe is good except that it doesn't have vocals... 50-50 could work but no one seems to really like it as much as I do... Father O'blivion maybe...)
Captain Beefheart (Because who doesn't want to see their friends trying to sing Pena? But really, I think it would be a very fun addition... Not sure what song, though. Frownland, Ella Guru, Moonlight on Vermont are names that come to mind as being at least possible.)
Naked City (Definitely limited by this format, as it tends to be sax-heavy and vocals-light. So many songs I would love to play in this game that lack vocals. Just like with Beefheart or Patton, hearing someone try to keep up with Yamatsuka/Yamataka Eye would be a treat.)
I would also like more Primus. John the Fisherman is a great song but for some reason I didn't like it in Guitar Hero II (Which is even more odd because it was one of very few master tracks in the main set list). I would absolutely die if Tommy the Cat was in the game, or one of many other fine songs...
Then there are other bands, like The Advantage (Kraid's Lair), that I would love to play in Rock Band but who are limited by a lack of vocals (limited in Rock Band terms, not musically). The same goes for Bela Fleck & The Flecktones (Sinister Minister), assuming we can pretend the guitar is a banjo. Or use one of the songs where Bela plays guitar. (Bela has one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen in recent memory. Anyone else seen them live recently?)
Hmm... What else... I think some Tiger Army would be cool, Ghostfire maybe. Reverend Horton Heat in GH2 was a good thing, and it shows that there is a possibility for more bands of that type.
That's about all I can think of... Sorry if my post was a bit ramble-y but that's the way my thought process was for all of this, lol.
Edit: I realize that some of those bands aren't exactly Rock Bands, but what the hell. Also, to the people who have said He Is Legend: I don't mean to flame or anything, but I've seen them live and was thoroughly, thoroughly unimpressed. I'm not sure if they're a lot better on their albums or something, but from what I've seen I personally wouldn't include them in this game.

GWAR (bring back the bomb would be good for it)
Bad Religion (i want more from guitar hero 1 maybe "los angeles is burning"?)
Rancid (any song and i would be happy a good one would be "red hot moon" or "journey to the end of east bay")
THE MISFITS (where are they in the harmonix games we need them maybe some newer stuff because its more challenging to play)
Mindless self indulgence (i know we would NEVER see them but i can still hope for it)
Tenacious D (tribute maybe?)
NOFX ("the decline" would be a killer song for this game i mean its 18 minutes long but it would be fun)
Killswitch engage ("a bid farewell" or "end of heartache" would be killer)
Lamb of god (maybe "now you've got something to die for" or "Hourglass")
Slayer ("Reigning blood", "angel of death", "War ensamble" just about any song)

The Advantage! That would be great. Minibosses Metroid would also be great, with no vocals though probably unlikely.
Primus i still say is a perfect band for this game because none of the parts would be repitive for any player for most Primus songs, and there are few breaks as well. Plus they rock.
Melvins would be a welcome addition.
As for Bungle, Good By Sober Day and None Of Them Knew They Were Robots would be crazy as would Desert Search For Techno Allah.

Apparently from what i now understand the rumor that TOOL was supposed to be in GH2 was, for the most part, true. Apparently there was a mix up or a missed deadline or some other incident that got in the way.
Also knowing that Tenacious D is in GH3 is a good thing because TOOL and Tenacious D are friends.
And now that Metallica is finally in i guess anything is possible.

I'm pretty surprised that BMRC has only gotten one vote, especially considering people are now also bringing up Kings of Leon.

Oh, I just noticed the Pixies are up there too! I like them, I love "Where is my mind?" but this one probably doesn't fit that well into the game, "Hey" is also nice!
Oh and BRMC is also a nice band!

I'd like to hear some amazing guitar and drum parts. Maybe some longer songs, like something by Dragonforce (Through The Fire And Flames would be excellent) or Dream Theatre (The Glass Prison would be fun). And although I'm a Cash fan myself, I Disagree with adding something like Cash, or Willie Nelson. This is ROCK band, not Country band, Rap band (isn't that an oxymoron?) or anything else like that. Why don't they throw in some Benassi too? I'm sure the drummer and vocalist will only be slightly more entertained than everyone else :P . Rock itself is debatable (Metal, Punk, Grunge, Classic, ect ect) without having to throw in another complete genre.
Other bands I'd like to hear would be:
HIM (although I'd find it kind of hard to hear them in this type of game),
Nightwish (has some credibility to it),
The (International Noise Conspiracy) - They would just be fun lmao
Papa Roach (Has a lot of good songs, lots of rhythm, and melody. Not necessarily Last Resort though)
Powerquest (goes along with Dragonforce)
Disturbed, Linkin Park, It Dies Today, Iron Maiden, alexisonfire, Goldfinger, and even Green Day. I could go on for hours and name a hundred bands that I think should be in this game or DLC. And whether you agree with this list or not is irrelevant, to the fact that everyone (as has been stated a few times already) has different tastes, and likes different bands for different reasons.
