1962 - The Beatles signed a management conract with Brian Epstein although Epstein never signed it himself. Epstein begins to steer the bands image away from leather jackets towards a smarter stage presentation with matching suits and respectful bows to the audience.
1969 - Cruising With Ruben and The Jets, credited to the group of the title but by a thinly disguised Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention peaks at #159 in the US. It is a pastiche of doo - wop style music.
1970 - Dr. Robert Moog unveils the mini-moog, a mini synthesizer that opens the door for many aspiring groups to proceed beyond the limitations of two guitars, bass and drums.
1970 - Legendary producer Phil Spector is called in to remix the Let It Be album as the sound is considered to raw for commercial release. Spector has long wanted to work with The Beatles and , left alone with the master tapes, proceeds to impose his style on the album. He particularly angers McCartney by adding strings and choir to The Long And Winding Road. What began as a back to roots project finishes being one of their most lavishly produced albums involving many hours of mixing.
1977 - Guitarist for Thin Lizzy Brian Robertson is forced leave the band after he severely cuts his hand in a London pub brawl. He is unable to play for the bands upcoming 10 week tour supporting Queen. Gary moore is brought in to replace him.
1979 - The Clash released their first single in the US, I fought The Law, which was written by Buddy Holly associate Sonny Curtis.
1981 - Country star Dolly Parton topped the Pop Charts in the US with 9 to 5 the theme song to the film in which she starred.
1981 - TV advertised The Very Best Of David Bowie hits #3 in the UK while his latest single Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) is #20
1981 - Aerosmith's Greatest Hits makes #53 in the US. Lead singer Steven Tyler is hospitalized after being injured in a motorcycle accident.
1984 - Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon made a pilgramage to Liverpool, the birthplace of the late John Lennon. They visit and expereince many of the landmarks , such as Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields, that had inspired so many Beatles songs.
1988 - Alice Cooper stops in Rochester NY for a show on his Raise Your Fist And Yell World Tour. Mototrhead is the opening act for this leg of the tour.
1990 - Anthrax's rehearsal studio in Yonkers NY catches fire and burns down. The band loses over $100,000 in equipment along with many sentimental items.
2000 - Nikki Sixx holds a press conference in LA. Nikki says the Motley Crue rehearsals have been “amazing” recently, and the band has more songs under their belt. He says Mick Mars wrote the music to the most beautiful song the band has ever done, to which Nikki just wrote lyrics for and titled New Tattoo. It’s described as Angel by Hendrix mixed with the Crue’s Without You and he feels that “this song will get you laid.” Another new song he has begun is titled Treat Me Like The Dog That I Am. Nikki also says he met with Miguel from Coal Chamber a few days ago. It is now confirmed that the Maximum Rock 2000 tour will be Motley Crue with Megadeth and Coal Chamber. Later that day Nikki gets arrested for a speeding violation and spends time in jail before wife Donna D'Erico bails him out. The police take away his license for the fifth time, and also his BMW 740iL that he’ll get back in thirty days. Nikki needs to go to court and prove why he has to be able to drive.
2005 - Alice Cooper appears at the Sundance Film Festival performing School's Out at the launch of new film "Rock School' about a school for young rock musicians.
