Wow, it's been a long time on this song. A lot of praying it didn't show up in BWT. I got to GGaHT on med. drums the second day I had this game, Thanksgiving day. Just tonight I finally beat it, 4 stars. I know many people have been struggling, here's what I did. I simply kept saving up energy for overdrive. Whenever the meter started to go near the middle I activated overdrive on the next fill. It worked out for me, might help some of you.

I'm just wondering what problems people have on this song. I beat it on expert first try 4 stars, but I've been drumming for 7 years, so maybe I can help any of you having trouble.

I also heard many people saying they had a hard time beating it on medium, but I did it on the first try. I'm not a drummer or anything. If I remember correctly, I had to just ignore most of the bass notes in that one section with a ton of them, but I made it through no problem.

Umm, yeah, there you have it. Most of us bought the game because we can't afford a real drum kit and/or can't play drums. So for most of us the issues it the length and repetitiveness. We have yet to build up good arm muscles for this type of thing so after seven minutes of this thing we start to ache.

Build up arm muscle to play 7 minutes? Think if you can't play 7 minutes might be having more issues and would recommend hitting the gym maybe before picking up the drum sticks at night.

Calm down there chief, no need to go around being jerk.

I started to wet my feet on hard. There is a lot more kick stuff, which I need to get better with.

That's not nice.

I'm glad SoulScreme is just being honest at what level he's at. Drumming is a physical instrument to play...try merely holding your arm straight up for seven minutes and that's how it probably feels like for most newbies.

I'm a drummer of considerable experience and I can admit having trouble with "Are you gonna to be my Girl" mostly due to not being familiar with the drum part. We all have our strengths...and all have weaknesses otherwise this game would not be challenging at all. I love the fact that this game is creating a new breed of drummers...e.g. my wife now plays drums...and after four days of RB I asked her to play on a real kit, not too shabby.

BUT I think experienced drummers are definitely going to spot the Rock Band-itis in the mechanics of your limbs and how you pound away like Animal from the muppets.

Five *ed it my first try, but it really was annoying though. Very repetitive and it wouldn't end. I actually didn't enjoy it at all. I dread playing it on hard.

The first time I played this song was on Hard and after hearing people talk about it..I thought it was gonna be some difficult song..but its actually just a lot of good ole fun. I love the marathon of it and I got 5 stars on it the first time I played it.

The two "not so hard" songs that really give me trouble are reptilia and here it goes again. Its that pedal then two drum repetition that I always fail on. In Reptilia its pedal then red and blue and in Here it Goes Again its Pedal then Red and Yellow. I always seem to get off track and somehow end up hitting everything together. Its so odd because I have gotten the other pedal stuff down pretty well (Tom Sawyer is still unbeaten on Hard and Detroit Rock City is just a miracle to get through, if I make it and Foreplay/Long Time is the same way with the intro. After that I can rock that song pretty well)

For me, it wasn't the length that made it hard. It was the repetitive patterns combined with the brief lag on my TV - it put me in a situation where, as soon as I fell out of a pattern, it was almost impossible to get back in before I failed out. I couldn't just watch the notes and hit them at the bottom of the screen, I couldn't just listen to it and play (because outside of expert, you're not playing anything close to the actual beats).

It was the repetitive patterns ... where, as soon as I fell out of a pattern, it was almost impossible to get back in before I failed out.

That was my problem (one of them anyway), although without the lag issue. And then, once I got in the rhythm of those marathon patterns, the end threw in a bunch of different stuff that got me off track. That, and it's not my favorite song, and it's waaay too long, so I just wanted to get past it before I failed out at 97% completion again...

Not looking forward to it on hard and expert. Although hopefully by then my drum skills will have improved.

I'm not a drummer but i passed that song on second try. Practice mode works wonders! Just wait until you get to hard mode. You will most likely fail often until you get used to the kick drum. Your foot seriously needs a mind of it's own.

I agree but I'm half way through hard mode and the songs progress very naturally difficulty wise. There's many songs where I barely kept up but each one trains you on a certain kind of beat and if you start getting it you will get it eventually. I'm frankly amazed that I can actually do some of these beats.

it is also really odd because I produce electronic music and have always made very complicated beats and now I see what hell I'd put an actual drummer though.

I'm with you, but I have WAY more trouble with QoTSA song.. Jesus, I'll never be good at that one.. but I am happy I past it on hard at 80% took me about 15 tries!

I also 5 starred GGaHT on hard my first try. Was having a good day!

I'm one of the people having trouble on medium. It isn't too bad but around the 55-60% part, I just cant keep up with that pattern. Hopefully I'll get the hang of it, cause I'd hate to be stuck on this song forever :(
This is the first and only song I've actually failed so far on medium drums, don't know what the problem is.

Edit: Yay, made it to 62%. I give up lol. Time to play some guitar.

I'm just starting out on the drums on easy and I got through all the songs on easy fairly well, although Blitzkrieg Bop and one other song kicked my butt. This song however, I was fighting for my life not to fail out towards the end where it just goes yellow, and red-yellow over and over again fairly fast (for me at least). I kept missing the red which then threw off my yellow rhythm.

Songs over five minutes should have a "checkpoint" about halfway though so if you fail out you only have to start over from that point.

Just kidding - don't want anyone to flame me... :)

I had trouble getting through GG&HT on medium too. Here's how I got through it.

I learned the beat in practice mode, slowly building up speed. I went back to beat it and was doing great, but I slowly fell apart as it went on. I didn't feel tired as I play softly but I just couldn't keep the beat anymore for some reason. I tried another time and failed again. Gave up for the night, played a few other songs for fun. Came back the next day, went through it quickly in practice mode to regain the beat, and then nailed it in the tour mode. I was building up multipliers instead of just struggling to get by.

I actually went back during my next play session and played it for fun because it had been running through my head all day. "As kings and queens bow and play for youuuuuuuuu."

As you move on the same pattern appears in many different songs, so if you learn it now it will pay off for you.

Good luck everyone.

You're not going to like medium then: Same pattern but with a bass note on every yellow!

That one part w/ the guitar solo, even on medium, it is such an endurance test.

THIS ^^^

I nearly threw a stick through my LCD after trying about seven times to get through Reptilia on hard.

The urge to match the kick with the two-drum hit is too freakin' much.

HAHA, it really is. I get to 95% on Reptilia and ....FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!! My brain just doesn't want to respond to that pattern at all and its very highly frustrating. I curse and throw my sticks every time I play that song.

One tip for GGHT on medium is to not use overdrive at all. This then gives you a nice fill section every 15 seconds or so during the long sections where you can take a break and regroup.

Ugh. I despise this song. It has an annoying long solo that never seems to end at the end and the drum part is very repetitive during the solos.

I played Easy solo tour up to unlock the list that had this song and then I started Band World Tour and in our very first mystery setlist was this song, which I've never heard before in my life. Needless to say, we all failed out.

I tried beating it on medium last night at the end of my play session, but my leg was just getting too tired, so I failed out at 90%. Tonight I warmed up with a little Blackened, which will warm up those kick drum muscles and then I played through it and won. I made sure to save as much overdrive as I could for the solos. The bass drum and red drum notes are worth more than others, so I'd focus on those mostly, if you're not in the groove. If you can get in the groove with those, then add in the other drums.

I hate this song so much. Never heard this song before in my life before this game and I hope I don't have to play it ever again. I hope someday we can rate or disable songs to appear less frequently in mystery setlists or as random songs.

I'm not an experienced drummer. But I passed this song on medium on my first attempt with no problem.
The only song I ever failed on the solo medium tour was Run To The Hills. Every other song I scored in the mid to upper 90%'s on the first try. Except Blackened, I was somewhere in the 80%'s.

What I've discovered is that you need to lock into the beat and while you're locked in listen to the entire band play. Don't isolate your ears into only hearing the drums. I find this helps big time. Immerese yourself into the whole song and pretend you're really playing in a band. It helps, trust me.

I also discovered that if I try to be really careful with the drum kit so I don't break it, that would make me lose the beat. So now I just play like I'm really playing and I do a lot better. Screw it, if they break they break. I'm just going to have fun.

Same problem here. I get to 75-80% by just hitting the yellow and the bass and forget the red. I need to go into practice and slow it down. But by the 7 minute mark it's not that I'm tired, I just lose focus and can't keep the rhythm.

I just can't play the yellow+bass then red pattern over and over without getting out of rhythm. Thank goodness for downloadable content or bonus songs or I'd have nothing new to play the past 2 days. Yesterday I didn't even try, but going to today to hopefully get through it =)

I think I might just do what someone suggested and not use overdrive at all until I'm about ready to fail to get those fill sections just so I can move on.

Well, it depends. Most folks don't have a lot of stamina in their wrists.. and some folks are trying to use their whole arm for the drumming.

My personal issue was timing. During the guitar solo's the yellow+orange, yellow+red, yellow+orange sequence was really getting to me. I ended up just ditching the pedal to get through the sequence. Need to go back and work on the timing. Just a mental block as I haven't gotten the timing of the sequence down yet so I can disconnect the concept of hitting the pedal while doing a different timing with the pads.
