Profiles in RB2 on ps3

I just had a quick question about the profiles on rockband 2 for the ps3

I have had previous experience on rockband for the 360 and was used to the characters being saved in the profile and players would 'log in' to access their characters.
now i recently got rock band 2 and was used to this style of profiles as Little Big Planet also uses this method for saving characters and items.

so, I may be missing something but it seems that everyone on a system has to use the same profile when playing rockband 2 or NOONE can play in the same band as eachother.
so i have a situation where everyone logs into their own profile to play games on the ps3 EXCEPT when playing rock band, in that case everyone has to sign into my profile to access their characters....

please tell me i'm missing something :(
or is this just how the profiles on RB2 'work' (and by work I mean... 'broken')

On the PS3, the only way to play with your "home" characters is by playing online with the person you want to play with. In other words, if you have four players and each wants to use a character he created when playing solo, you will need all four PS3s connected to one another via the Internet to do it.

please, please Harmonix add full profile support. you have had it on 360 seince RB1! please please!

so is there a 'feature request' thread or something around here?
