What does playing on Expert get you?

Hi, I just started Rock Band with 3 of my friends and lemme say it's probably the single greatest time I've ever had playing a video game.

I wanted to ask, does playing on Expert mode for Lead Guitar get the band anything? Like extra points? or something? Am I helping the band in any way or is it just for personal accomplishment and a challenge. I play Guitar Hero on Expert and I find Rock Band to be a bit easier. Since everyone is at the Medium range for their respected instruments, what am I doing at Expert? Any help would be great.

You get a lot more points when you play on expert. When your band gets farther in the world tour, you eventually won't be able to play on the lower difficulties. Try and get your skills up to expert as quickly as you can since it will help in the long run.
