For example I dislike Metal genre a lot, so in my opinion all the metal bands are the worst bands ever. Except maybe for Iron Maiden.

I think this also depends on if we want to bring popularity into the mix. I'm sure there's some unknown band out there that might as well have been spawned from hell itself... but it's the popularity that crappy artists like The Jonas Brothers or Soulja Boy get that really make it sting.

i've dealt with friends and family who make bad music, but i was genuinely having trouble not laughing in his face when he put their cd on.

If you dislike a band, you can retain a degree of subjectivity and assess the song by itself. It should be the same with a genre, if only in these debates. For example, I am not going to claim blah blah blah prog bands are rubbish if I have not given them a complete chance, but at the same time, I do not enjoy prog so unless someone drops it on me, I'm not going chasing it. I do not presume that all of it will irritate me though.

I agree with Lolicat on this one. I, for example, don't like most prog metal I've listened to. Still, I recognize the skill it takes the musicians to play, it's just that it's not the music for me. Most people should separate the idea of "worst band ever" and "bands I don't like."

Well, I just listened to Freaxx, and the song wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. From what I gather, the band is intentionally terrible, a la Green Jelly or Ugly Kid Joe. Do people actually expect them to strive for Dream Theater-like instrumentals and Dylanesque lyrics with a band name like BrokeNCYDE? :D

Bono tries to hard to be political. Get it through your head man, you aren't political in the least!
The Edge is not that good at all. Why he is considered a good guitarist I have no idea.
Their Lyrics are usually supplied by Bono, who usually either writes about some kids in Africa, or losing his girlfriend.
The drummer, I am convinced, had no ride cymbal. Come on man, mix it up!
The only person that is even worth being given any credit is the bassist, who probably doesn't even like the band he's in.

Their next album entitled Shark Sandwich received just a two-word review, "Sh*t sandwich". Those criticisms on Wiki just remind me of the reviews that Spinal Taps albums got, and just as hilarious as well.

U2 - All their songs sound EXACTLY the same, due to Bono's intolerable voice, the same stupid echo on the guitar, and the same drumming.
Bono tries to hard to be political. Get it through your head man, you aren't political in the least!
The Edge is not that good at all. Why he is considered a good guitarist I have no idea.
Their Lyrics are usually supplied by Bono, who usually either writes about some kids in Africa, or losing his girlfriend.
The drummer, I am convinced, had no ride cymbal. Come on man, mix it up!
The only person that is even worth being given any credit is the bassist, who probably doesn't even like the band he's in.

Copypasta= internet slang, meaning anything that is copied and pasted into a thrad with no thought. I used it because your post displayed a degree of ignorance a lot of people have towards various genres.
See: 'all country music', 'all boy bands', 'all these new artists and bands that think they can get by on their looks alone'. I hate when people marginalise an entire genre, type of music, or make totally misinformed statements regarding attractive people within the music industry (especially so when they use the word 'new' as if attractive people have only entered music recently). Insane Clown Posse is by far the worst "musical" group to ever exist. Between their inane lyrics, poor arrangement and inability to perform anything even remotely well, they're already sucking something awful.

Then add to the fact that they have their own little "religion" of the most ignorant ****ing people I have EVER seen, and they take it to a whole new level. I have yet to meet one self-proclaimed juggalo/juggalette with so much as even an ounce of charisma or intelligence.

I don't know Air Supply, and Nickleback sucks, but the others are great bands. Especially Journey and Styx...STYX opened for Boston who I went to see and STYX completely stole the show, they were amazing. The had a freaking guitar duel. It was wonderful. Journey has incredible players, a wonderful vocalist, and they write well too. That's like saying the Who sucks. For a band without meaning or talent. See above quoted post.
