Here's the thing, I've been playing music for 12 years now, taught my self many instruments (violin being my primary). But one thing I can't do is fast bass beats on the drums. When there is more than 3 fast bass beats in a row, my leg just locks up. I realize this may be because this is a "new" thing, so I was just wondering if there is any secret to doing fast bass beats.
I love the drums and I think it's a great instrument, and would love it even more if I could do some of the faster songs on Expert and not fail out :). So if you know any secrets to the drum pedal, please post here :)
Thank you so much,
Resto

It's taken me a few months to get to expert and be able to basically do all songs. My trick is when I have slow, up to two consecutive foot notes I'll keep my heel on the pedal and just use my toes. If there are lots of consecutive mildly fast notes I'll lift my whole foot up, but if it is a super fast beat I'll start by lifting my leg and then use my toes for the 2nd or 3rd note. Good luck.

Yeah that's a good idea, I usually always keep my heel down. I'll try lifting my feet.

i wouldn't say there is a secret or anything, ya just gotta keep playing and your leg will over time develop the muscle to be able to play the quicker notes.
my right leg is really developed compared to my left, if i try doing double bass tapping when im just sitting in a chair, i notice my left leg just feels like a big log loosely hanging from my knee, and i don't have much control over it, but im getting better.
(edit) lol, i didn't even think about it, try playing with your heel up if you play heel down, you might like it better

Yeah, I switch up the stances because it tires different parts of my leg.
I also notice that in songs like "Pump It Up" and "We Got the Beat" That when I have a constant fairly fast paced bass note, my left leg kinda wobbles around as well. Sometimes even lifts up so it looks like I'm stomping both feet.
Sitting stance also changes alot of how I can play notes.
