View Full Version : How to identify first-generation peripherals?

I promised my wife I'd wait until Xmas to open RB. I got a pre-order from Amazon (sitting under the tree, ack!), so I think it's very likely I have the bad peripherals. Is there an easy way to know without taking the guitar/drums apart? I'm OK with doing that (and it sounds like a good idea for the drums in any case, just to tighten up the connectors), but I'm hoping there's a batch # or something else.

Obviously I hope I got lucky and got the newer models, but regardless, I'm planning to order replacements ASAP, as even if they don't break Xmas day--which I'm sure they will, as my extended family will be over and we'll go nuts with RB--they're faulty and will die soon. I *really* don't want our Xmas dampened by this.

I'm thinking these kinds of questions should go into an FAQ or something, as who in their right mind would want to keep this junk? It's a double-edged sword, but I think HMX should just do a recall. Tell us which ones are bad and how to ID them. Otherwise they're going to get a ton of people who will order replacements and send back functioning units just to insure they've got the latest/greatest (which they already might). I guess that's "quieter" for them PR-wise.
