So if you try to fix your guitar by taking it apart does this void your warranty? I am wondering because i dont want to be charged 100 dollars because i took the back apart trying to fix it.

It does void the warranty.

they have stated in this forum that it will void the warranty if you take it apart, but unless there is a warning delivered with the product to this effect, they cannot legally enforce this. i have seen no warning.

They also continue to allow the "how to fix your gutiar / drums" posts to stand on the forums without moderation which can be considered a de facto endorcement by their support organization.

However, unless you want to take them to court over the mater, assume that you will be hosed if you try to fix your own guitar.

Edit: I think they are more concerned with the guitar "mods" (like using sandpaper on the switch contacts) versus just opening up the unit (like the fix to reconnect the loose drum connections). Still, is it worth $100 to take the chance?

True very true. I have not seen anything to the effect that if you take apart the guitar it will void the warranty. I am sure i am not the only one that has taken apart their guitar while awaiting a replacement. I think i might chance it, and if they do charge my card i will stir up a hell storm with ea over their charge.
Anyone with me on this one???

Repairing guitars yourself and Warranty

Hi All,

We have noticed on several posts that some people are trying to fix their guitars themselves. We understand that many of you do not want to wait for a replacement instrument, but we strongly recommend that you use the warranty process.

If you open your guitar casing to attempt to fix the peripheral yourselves you are voiding your warranty. This means if your attempts to repair fail and you return the guitar for a warranty replacement, or your fix succeeds but at a later date you need to use the warranty service, you may be charged for the cost of the instrument.

Please consider this before attempting one of the fixes listed by other users on these forums.

Cheers,
EAxMetroJack
