Linkage.

I may pick this up. Mass Effect looks like an interesting enough game, and I have seen nothing but positive scores for it.

And at $20 with some free (Technically) DLC, it makes it even better. The 360 seems to be getting tons of great games down to $20. I picked the Orange Box up the other day for $20 as well.

Discuss.

Smart idea, including that DLC pack on-disc.

Wow, that game didn't particularly enthrall me when my friend brought it over, but at $20 with the expansion... I might have to give it a second shot.

I beat the game already...

...what is the dlc supposed to be exactly?

Lights from the sky or something like that.

If you beat the game that is fine. I'm just informing the people that haven't bought it.

How is it? I've been reading reviews and stuff, and input is always welcome.

So I'm assuming that it is worth more than my $20. OK buy for me. I can finish The Orange Box later. Damn you and your love of driving Gordon Freeman! I just wanna shoot stuff!

That was off-topic....umm.....MASS EFFECT WILL BE AWESOME WHEN I BUY IT!!! (i hope)

i loved MAss effect. had Bioshock,Halo 3 and rock band not come out that year, it would have been the best game of 2007 in my opinion.

Mass Effect is great. I never got around to beating it, but my friend did and he loved it. After I beat Fallout, Resistance 2, NFS: Undercover, and Red Alert 3, I'll take another shot at finishing it.

The DLC is supposed to be another mission in the form of making a planet that was once unlandable explorable. It look cool, but not worth the money for me. If it's included, that makes the deal even more sweet.

The DLC for Mass Effect is an expansion pack called "Bring Down the Sky", which unlocks a new solar system where you get to save a planet from imminent doom-by-asteroid. It's pretty fun, and made for some refreshing new content when it came out for download. As part of the disk, it will likely not stand out as anything but a slightly more detailed exploration mission. (And it showed the Batarian species of aliens onscreen for the first time, which was awesome for me because they were big in the first book and I always wondered what they actually looked like.)

I'm buying this the day it comes out for the platinum hits. I can't believed I looked past something this big for so long.

Quite possibly one of the best games i have played. The DLC or expansion, is kinda Meh. But i spent HOURS going through everything. I cannot recommend this game enough.

I love how they ignore everything that Geoff Keighley says.

If you still haven't picked up mass effect at $20 its a steal. The side quests and planet exploration get pretty repetitive, but all the parts relating to the main quests (and their direct side quests) are very well written and enjoyable. I personally loved the game and have played through it multiple times.

I think it's hilarious that they READ and show a graphic of the statement from Microsoft regarding their parental controls (which work quite well btw), then act like parents have no way of controlling what their kids play if they aren't home. This isn't the NES people, parents can set timers, content blocks, etc. I had to do this for my little stepbrother because my mom was paranoid about him getting into M rated games too young.

At any rate, this story just shows how stupid and out of touch these "professionals" are when it comes to videogames. "The kids are playing these games, not their dads", actually, the average age of video gamers is around 30 now isn't it? When I have kids, I'll be playing video games with them if they want to play them. And I won't be so out of touch to not even understand the rating system or parent controls on the system

And it's also sad and hilarious at the same time that they completely ignored the video game expert who actually PLAYED the game and listened to some crazy woman who said it should be AO based on a single screenshot that lasted less than 1/4 of a second. Usually, I don't hate Fox News, but that's just a pathetic excuse for journalism.

It's a really great game, I recommend it, especially if you're a fan of Bioware's work.

Speaking of which, can't wait for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

I'd suggest getting it, especially for that price. I got it for $20 as well, albeit without the DLC (it was used).

So all the good stuff?

I played until I got the first achievement, got frustrated with the controls and gave up.

your loss. If you are talking about aiming then it gets way better as the game goes on. For instance the sniper at the beginning of the game is really hard to control, but once you give it enough skill points in an instant kill against just about anything.

I love how when he explained that the sex scene is also pretty difficult to actually "unlock," they just blew him off like he didn't know what he was talking about. Seriously, you have to actually ROMANCE a character THROUGHOUT the various chapters of the game, and IF you do it correctly close to the end of the game you see the "sex scene."

I also like how when a movie has a sex scene nobody cares, but when a video game has a sex scene, everyone goes ape ****. This is stupid.

video games don't "desensitize" children and turn them into violent, sex-crazed cannibals.

ANYWAYS. I got Mass Effect shortly after release, but didn't get the special edition because I didn't know much about the game, I only got it because a friend told me to get it.
I ended up LOVING it and regretting not getting the special edition.

I DLd "bringing down the sky" and loved it.

Mass Effect is one of my favorite games of all time. Wrex is awesome.
I can't wait for the sequel.

Also wikipedia says someone has the rights to a mass effect film and is gathering people for the project. HMMMMMM. The movie better have a full blown sex scene in it, to piss people off.

Ah, that video is a constant reminder as to why I sincerely believe Fox News is the worst excuse for serious journalism on television.

A full blown sex scene would make it even more awesome.

I think Mass Effect could pull of a movie...maybe. I dunno.

Nonetheless, I'm getting Mass Effect at some point, at least to make me forget about Fallout 3. (Damn $60 price points! I'm cheap!)

Nothing should make you forget about Fallout 3. It's awesome (unless you're on PS3 in which case you got screwed, and that sucks)
