View Full Version : Hard Rock Endings?

I did a quick search but came up with nothing (seriously, try doing a search of the word "ending" and tell me how many pages you go through without seeing a single mention of what I am asking) so i figure I can ask here and after one or two people ***** about me not looking hard enough, some one should answer...
What is the exact requirements for getting all those extra points in the fill endings?
I know everyone has to hit the notes after the fill, but sometimes we feel like we do and it still doesnt give us the points. We started cheating a bit by not playing the full fill, but we believe that caused us to fail it too. So when we started playing it to the end our success ratio went up, but there are still more then a few times where we all claim to hit our notes at the end and we dont get the points. Does the drummer (me) have to hit that last symbol at the end of the fill before continuing on to the final notes?

If you have a mic hooked up, the vocalist has to make some noise during the ending or it won't give you the points.
Kind of silly, since the vocalist apparently can't add to the points at all and isn't required to hit a note or phrase at the end of the jam.

Yes. Absolutely. If you're not, you're not getting your solo points.

Like at any point in the ending? Or should he carry out his vocals through the ending? Or will that treat it as a error and take the points away as well?

okay, this is probably the reason. I guess i just been missing the pop up green note there because the whole fret is colored.

to my knowledge there is no "activation" note at the end of a big rock ending for drums. and by the way, before your bonus goes poof, the screen shows you which instrument botched the ending by being greyed out, while the ones that didnt botch it are lit up. Same for unison bonuses.

What happens is you get that "golden road" design up in the vocal track--the same thing your vocalist gets in order to trigger overdrive.
All you have to do is make enough noise to trigger it (the pattern goes away) and the vocalist will be credited with contributing to the big rock ending.
I usually just yammer while it's going on, saying things in a screamy voice like "yeah, it's the big rock ending and we're jamming out but don't forget to hit your big finish notes which are coming....NOW!"
It's stupid, but it amuses me.

Hmm..... on second thought, the green symbal icon (symbal symbol? :) might just be for activating star power (energy, whatever).

Cymbal*. :p And yeah, that's only for overdrive, it doesn't appear in the BRE. Just make sure everyone hits all the end notes. Maybe your strum bar is messing up?

I dont think so. we havent had any strumming issues to date. It might have been the singer. The next time we play, I will have a person not playing specifically looking for it (we tried to do this last night but each time we had somebody looking for it, someone would simply miss their note leaving no mystery)

A lot of songs have a pause between where the "play anything as fast as you can part" ends and the last note or series of notes are. If you play in between there it will cancel it out.

Thanks. I knew symbal looked wrong... my fault for not using firefox's spell check to fix it :)
Sounds like it's probably the vocalist. They definitely have the most odd interface with the game.

The first time I realized the vocalist needed to "contribute" was when we were playing a three-piece and I saw that the drum and guitar icons were highlighted, but the mic was still grey.
As soon as you make a sound into the mic and trigger your part of the ending, the mic icon goes white.

You can learn a lot by going through the tutorials / reading the instruction booklet that comes with the game.

I don't think it's in the paper manual, but I could be wrong. I haven't gone through all the tutorials yet and I doubt any of my guests ever will.
We've lost quite a few big rock endings because the singer had no idea she was required to do something during it. The circular "lit" or "unlit" icons are pretty self explanatory which helped track down the problem.
