At least for the 360, although I'd assume PSN could do something similar. How about the option to get the album in MP3 format from the Zune site along with the DLC for Rockband at the same time. This is probably more of a Microsoft marketing tactic than something for Harmonix, I guess.

Would be an awesome combo, expecially for new artists. That hot new DLC album, want it on MP3 to go with it? Along with some fries and an apple pie, maybe?

I know that iTunes keeps about 50% of the sale of the album for itself to cover "overhead", so maybe MS (or Sony?) can undercut that a little and offer a deal on both the DLC and MP3 at the same time.

If they wanted to do a "double package" like that, they could as easily offer it on the PS3: the DLC would end up with the game data while the MP3 would end up in the Music folder. From there, you could put it on a thumb drive and transfer it to whatever MP3 player you prefer.

Cool - since I don't have a PS3 I couldn't say whether that was an option or not.. thanks for the clarification. Even more compelling to do it, then!

I'd be more inclined to think that MTV (the publisher) would be interested in tying Rock Band DLC with Rhapsody rather than tossing the money to Microsoft. And Sony'd be a bit more open to it too, I'd bet.

Meh. I'd rather they put their efforts elsewhere. There's no need to spend a bunch of time getting everything set up so you can download both at the same time, when it would work just as well to get them separately.

I think it's a pretty cool idea. One of my coworkers actually just mentioned the same thing today. I even thought of putting it up..are you him :eek:
