View Full Version : Tragedy strikes in Las Vegas

Let me preface this. I play expert drums pretty well on my PS3 and with the ION set.
After two times in a row of playing "Desperate Times, Desperate Measures," I decide to venture online for a little friendly competition. First song, "The Kill." No problems. I win with authority. Then, the kid picks "All the Small Things." That's when it happened. I notice that my bass pedal is dropping all notes. So after getting pretty mad (and getting talked sh*t to by what sounded like a 13 year old), I tear my pedal apart and notice that a little piece of white plastic is rattling around in there. Come to find out that the little piece of plastic in question is what triggers the damn note in the first place! So my pedal is broken beyond repair (I could glue it, but it would undoubtedly break off again) and I cannot play RB2. So I venture into my closet after I realize I have another pedal. I had bought the Roadie Pedal after previously breaking four RB1 pedals. It looks identical so it should work, right? Nope. I'm sure most of you already knew that, but I had no reason to try it in the first place. The thing I don't understand is how my Roadie Pedal stood strong for three solid months and has the same inner workings, but this one snapped within five weeks.
I really don't know what to do. I am trying to get in contact with ION to see if they will replace the pedal, but do I really want a pedal that will assuredly break again sometime in March? Do any of you have suggestions? I really like the feel of this pedal, but I guess I am willing to explore other options, so any input really would be appreciated.
Rock on.

I had the exact same thing happen and just bit the bullet, getting the Rock Band kickbox and a KD-8 kick trigger. I sent it for RMA but I had no faith that flimsy aluminum tab wouldn't just snap off again.

I have been running back and forth to Radioshack trying to get adapters to make this Roadie Pedal work. I figured out that the only difference between the two pedals is that the RP uses a mono 1/4" jack and the ION pedal uses a stereo jack. I got a stereo to mono adapter, but it doesn't wok consistently in songs. My next thing to try would be a mono 1/8" adapter to a 1/4" stereo adapter to plug into the drum brain, but I'm not sure that will work either. I need to figure something else out fast! I don't want to go back to my RB1 set. I really, really don't.

A couple of other users, Zodd and Ventura, had a problem with adapters too. Below is the thread I had recalled. They found out that a Stereo to Stereo adapter is the one they needed to work properly.

Yes, I definitely do. Not in the mental sense today though.

Ok, thank you.
This is the main reason I didn't get the ION. I HATED the feeling of the bass pedal, which I discovered was actually a hi-hat pedal after some reading. It's a weird feeling of principle that after spending $300 on a premium set, I shouldn't have to spend extra to get a decent pedal.

I got the Ions, but I knew I wouldn't like the pedal so I bought myself a Rock Pedal. The drums got in first, and yes, the pedal was horrible. It was loud and it just didn't feel right. When the Rock Pedal came in, I had to do a few adjustments, but man it's a world of difference. I was going to get a new pedal anyways, because I had gone through 3 RB 1 pedals up until then and I had already heard bad things about the pedal from the 360 version.
