From what they were willing to show of the charts, it didn't look too bad. Plus, that guy on drums needs 2 pedals for that? Seriously? I do more with one pedal in RB2. The guitars were strumming a lot, but I bet Thrasher beats what they had to keep up with.

why bother filming and expert+ video and only show the double bass at the END of the video...stupid camera man.:o

Probably the song I'm most interested in on this.

But I didn't get to see a lot. :[

haha yeah that's his job- he's the same guy that did the demo for Hot For Teacher at E3 and the Fuel video

O RLY? Did you happen to watch the end and catch the part at 4:40? Watch that and then try your statement again.

Go listen to War Ensemble. Listen for all of the kick drum in that and imagine all of it being charted, not half. There's nothing like that in RB2. At all.

All That Remains- This Calling

Wrong, wrong and wrong. This Calling only has half of its kick notes charted, and even that half is nowhere NEAR as fast as that part at the end of that Slayer video. Not even close.

What you're seeing here is 16th notes on the kick at around 220 BPM. This Calling is actually around 200-210 BPM, but only half of its 16th notes are charted in RB. It only looks similar on the screen because of the scrolling speed of the charts themselves.

My previous statement was correct, sorry bud, but thanks for playing! ;)

yea but only half the bass notes are charted in that song.

I think I might have to get this game because my left leg is so weak compared to my right and this would be a fun and intuitive way to make my left leg faster and steadier.

At 4:20 the bassist just drops his fretting hand off the guitar and strums. Open notes are so weird.

Well probably not, but god damn it, I will conquer Lombardo!!!! That man is all things awesome.

I wish the cameraman focused more on the charts than the people playing. Watching people act like idiots while playing on plastic instruments is not something I'm personally interested in.

The only songs where the purple lines really bothered me was on Hey Man, Nice Shot and Pull Me Under in GHWT... mostly because they have sections where you have a couple of note presses in the middle of a massive open pick section. Hard to get that down without a few practice sessions.

Damn. That was pretty cool, though HMX has made me feel pretty confident with the bass pedal because, all up until the end, everything that I saw I kept on saying, "pfft, I can do that with ONE pedal". Then the end came up, and I shut up fast. There were also lots of sections where they just filmed the guy's feet where it also looked the end speed.

Can't wait to try this :D. If I can get double bass hooked up for the RB2 kit, I think I'll actually buy this game. It's got Dyers Eve, Hit the Lights, and The Sword!

ditto. i'm glad HMX has chosen to avoid double-bass and it was very wise for activision to make it optional.

Welcome to Dave Lombardo's drumming! :)

I can't wait to see how many people complain about "WTFfail"ing this song on Expert+ as soon as the verse starts. That's another one with 16th notes on the kick at ~200BPM.

Go watch a drum chart of This Calling and put in twice as many orange lines. That's what it's going to look like, except that it's not nice and friendly having snare on 1,2,3 and 4. The snare is on the "and" of each beat, which just makes it all the more odd to play at first.

Metallica have never performed Dyer's Eye live for that very reason.

Looks like everyone was getting into it. The vocalist's Tom Araya impression wasn't bad.

I'll be honest, I didn't watch to the end. It was boring and the person operating the camera was being incredibly dumb about it, which is why it was boring. I can tell difficulty better from the chart than panning across the people playing them, and swinging back and forth between the two. I still stand by that I've done more with a single pedal where that guy was using double pedals in the first half of the song. Hell, he was using the second pedal for parts that looked equivalent to a No Doubt song.

Well, they have played Dyers Eve live....

And I dunno why there's so much hate for the open purple notes. I thought they give a lot to the feeling of playing a real guitar. You do play a open note when you're playing a E5 chord. If you're complaining about that, then I could only imagine when you make the jump to real guitar!!!! hahahaha. I believe I'm the only one to applaud the open note.

Ah, you're right. I believe they've only played it once, though, and almost 17 years after it's recording.

And I love the open note, and think it's a great idea.

That's what I'm saying. It might be tricky, try it on guitar!!!! I can't think of not playing a open E on guitar.

I don't understand why. It's still the same, playing with plastic instruments, as it ever was.
