As another poster brought to my attention yesterday, Bank of America has a policy that if a pending transaction doesn't complete in three days, they cancel it and your money gets returned to you.
Sure enough, I checked my balance this morning and that $100 is back in there. Cool. I'm sure plenty of other banks have policies like this too.
But, should I be worried that this is going to trip up the replacement process? Surprise surprise, I still haven't received any info on my new guitar.

Here's what I posted in a previous thread about this topic.
Remember that replacements are shipped via 2-day air but additional processing time is required before the box gets to UPS to be shipped. A good rule of thumb is 1-5 days of processing time and then a 2-day air shipment. This can obviously fluctuate a bit based on holiday shipping traffic and the number of replacements being processed.
As for your authorization being dropped, this is quite normal. The authorization is a verification against your credit card and can drop from your statement quite quickly depending on your bank; an actual charge won't show up unless you haven't sent back the malfunctioning peripheral within the 28-day limit.
It is good to note however, that using a debit card rather than a credit card may cause a hold to be placed on actual funds while the authorization is on your account.
If you are still concerned that your replacement may not go through, feel free to send me a PM with your RMA number so I can have it checked on for you.
I hope this answers your questions.

Ok just remember sure you got your $100 back, but they still do have your card information, if they ship you out a replacement and you dont ship one back, chances are they'll just charge you for it anyway, so before you think your 1 up on em remember they know where you live... and your bank info!

that would be pretty sad if he thought he got away with it and then got charged $125 for a broken guitar he could have sent out

Oh heck yeah. I'm not gonna try to screw EA. They're getting my old guitar back the day my new one arrives. After all, why would I want to hang on to a busted guitar?
