They are worse than the kit I have. My issue was the red pad not registering all the notes played. Any song on hard or expert that has any sort of rolls on the red pad you may as well forget, so it kinda sucks trying to play on anyting but medium which is too easy. So I filled out the for on the EA website Monday and got my replacement set last night. I hooked up the new set of pads and the red pad will not go off at all unless I hit right on the edge. I can pound the hell out of the center and get maybe 1 out of 10 hits to fire. So they are getting back the set they just sent me out and I am keeping my old ones. They are also getting a nice little note from me in the return box...
I am so torn by this game. On one hand I love it. It is so much fun I can't put it down. On the other hand I want to throw my hands in the air and say F--- it because of these hardware issues.

I feel your pain . Exact same thing happend to me last night . I get the " Replacement kit " last night and it was a newer model then mine and it fired about the same as my already broken one . The new Kick pedal is TOTAL CRAP . Its the strangest thing , old pedal will light up on the screen if I kick before the notes of the song start at the beginning . The new one will not light up on the screen unless there are notes coming down . this must be a new feature to keep you from disrupting other players that have notes when you dont . Bottom line is it sux . AND the pedal has a really hard time picking up a quick double Kick . My old one picks up EVERY kick . So My plan is to send back my drums but keep my pedal . A little combo of old and new seems to be working OK for now . BUT I am plowing through HARD and tapping into Expert now and its costing me 5 * runs . I am gonna call them back and try and pin them down on when they think a reliable replacement will be ready , but for now its just too soon for them to fix all the bugs and build new gear . The game came out last Tuesday for god sake . Give it 3 weeks and I bet they come out with something fully functional . I just hope they dont try and eff us out of the warranty.

well dude, maybe it's something besides the kit itself?

Care to elaborate? Its not really too hard to see it is the pad not responding to hits. I go into practice mode, pick a song with a long intro and put it on 50% speed. Then do some rolls on the red pad = no worky every hit. On the other 3 pads it is perfect... I have been a drummer for 10 years and can play 220 BPM easily with my hands. So if were referring that maybe it is a lack of skill then you are ignorant.
Anyway to the people that are interested in this issue and are not just here to troll. I taped down the red pad down with some sports tape and it works very very well now. Every once in a great while it will still miss a note but I can live with it for now. So I guess I will just keep it like this until they come out and say they have fixed the issue.

I really hope they are looking into it. As fors the warranty, I bout the 2 year protection plan from Wal-mart so if they do try to pull a fast one I will get a free replacement anyway. I can tell that 18 bucks is going to be well worth the cost.

It could be a software problem rather than hardware...

Well my pads work perfectly, except for the blue one which registers somewhere around 0% of the hits.
I'm still waiting on a replacement that I requested last tuesday morning.
