I managed to pick up a rockband 2 wireless drumset a couple of days before christmas and when I first opened the box I knew there was trouble. The "X" button never functioned to turn it on (or for any other function you'd use it for on a normal controller) and I actually was only able to turn the drum set on with the right arrow button, no clue why that worked. (also the top left quadrant light NEVER lights up and the only way to power it down is to power down my xbox)
I didn't take it back because I knew it was the only one available in my area and once I got it powered on it functioned fine.
Well everything has gone well for the last month and a half or so until I decided to start playing online and went out and bought the wireless mic/headset.
I know the mic/headset works with my normal controllers as my son uses it every day to play halo, but it will not interface with my wireless drum set.
So a couple of questions.
1. Are the symptoms I describe for my wireless drum set a "known" issue?
2. Anyone else having a similar problem connecting a wireless mic/headset (actually more like an ear piece)?
3. If anyone else has had a problem like this, were they able to fix it themselves?
I was hesitant to return it for repair as I'm in the US military stationed overseas and I didn't want to be without and now I fear that may have been my downfall. I don't want to go back to my old wired drum set (its so friggin loud) but I'll test it tomorrow to see if I can get the headset to work with it.
Thanks for any help you guys/gals can offer

Definitely a hardware issue.
