Am I gonna have to go to ebay for this?

I've called a lot of stores and most of them have told me that they haven't gotten a second shipment in yet and have no idea when to expect it. I want to go hunting for the game this weekend, but I'm not gonna spend $300+shipping on eBay when I could use the difference of that in gas to get to another store. Not to mention I've been fleeced on some "hard to find" deals on ebay.

I remember reading about how hard it would be to find one of these things, but am I honestly gonna have to wait until February? That just seems a little brutal. Is there any reasons as to why I'm being told that? Probably because of the massive warranty issues being called upon which leaves no time to make new SKU's available to the public? Even the wii doesn't have this issue. At least we know they get weekly allotments.

I understand the concept of supply and demand and I'm fully aware I brought this on myself by not going out at midnight, but I'm really hoping to get a taste of this game outside of a Best Buy store. I'd really like for someone from HMX to field this, but comments/suggestions are always welcome. I'm located in Missouri if that matters.

It's pretty simple. Making the instruments is a pain. They are working on making more. They released limited quantities. As you said, you were lazy and didn't go earlier. Now yes, you have to wait until more instruments are ready or get it on eBay.

My Best Buy is practically using them for Holiday Shopper benches they have so many. They're everywhere...the 360 version anyways.

haha it's backwards at all the stores i've called. More folks own 360's than PS3's around here so it's really easy for me to find stuff like that....unfortunately i'm STILL waiting on my PS3 to get back. they haven't even started on it yet. >.<

edit: Best Buy is closed today....anyone have any idea why? Thanksgiving was last week.

Yeah around here the stores just didn't get much for PS3 in...I was at walmart at midnight and there were about 45 Xbox bundles and 6 for PS3...

You summed it all up quite succinctly... You did not preorder the game, supply is low in some areas and demand is high. If it is not available at any store in the range you're willing to drive, and you do not wish to pay the prices demanded on eBay, then you will have to wait until it becomes available in your area, which could be January, February or beyond. Really not much more to it than that, unfortunately.

i posted earlier this morning that circuitcity.com has special edition bundles available for ps3. hopefully theyre still there. also i believe stores are getting their second batches of shipments. when i saw them online at circuit city they also had the in-store pickup option so obviously the store had them in-stock (they sold out within minutes on launch day). i thought gamestop wasnt getting more till next year or whatever based on what some have posted, but i heard people walked in this week and purchased bundles at random locations.

I think I got lucky. I was too late for the pre-order mainly because I just got my PS3 used from craigslist at a great price. I was just waiting to get that to decide what platform to get it for. I just happen to be checking sears.com last Saturday and found a couple for special edition bundles for the PS3 and Xbox 360. I purchased it quickly for instore pickup and since it was the After Thanksgiving Weekend, they were doing 10&#37; off on all electronics and the Rock Band Special Edition qualified. I paid $153 for it. By the way, I was also doing some other shopping on Monday and noticed in-store that Sears had 3 Xbox 360 bundles and Target actually had 1 Xbox 360 bundles. PS3 was nowhere to be seen, so I feel very lucky.

However, I think I had one of the original shipment bundles as my Strat of course has a broken strum bar. But, it does give me more time to learn the drums while I wait for EA to send the replacement guitar.

Alot of websites (like Gamestop) (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=200345) are showing that they expect to get new ones, and ship, on 12/7/07. Hopefully that's correct...

but most of the bundles i saw under the 200 mark are missing instruments and as a PS3 gamer, I can't use my Les Paul yet....oh well, all I want is to play drums and sing anways. lol.

thanks for tips, guys and gals. I may have to skip next weeks Straylight Run show to pick this one up if Gamestop is actually getting the game on 12.7...or just be late.

If you are desperate for Rock Band, and want to avoid online auctions, expand your search area to places that are a little further out, to areas that are less densely populated. I've had very little trouble looking for bundles of rock band where I am, in the tiny city of Utica (central New York).

Well all the people who said the shortage was bs can now shut their mouth because we all knew this would be hard to get by christmas time, and the only reason I have mine is because I waited in line outside of Best Buy for over 5 hours for the midnight launch.

But man Ebay is the last place I'd go to buy one, keep calling and checking online and you might get lucky! Good luck too.
