His name is Cobus. He claimed to have never taken drum lessons in his life. If someone were to say give him an ion kit, real pedals and a rock band 2 game could he FC stuff like someguy?
Here's one of his latest covers of Toxicity from SOAD.

To me, he's an inspiration to play both the real drums and rock band drums if I feel like ****.

I say no. Timing windows and only four pads that change what they mean would be his downfall.
Of course that is only in the short term. If he really wanted to he could learn to play the game.
EDIT: Someguy hasn`t FCd Painkiller yet, according to his Scorehero account. Only Domorin and HellAshes have.

Oh HELL yeah!
Cobus is freakin' awesome!! He would definitely be able to play RB drums with the best of them.

to cover a dave matthews band song, especially that one, and make it look good, well that's pretty awesome. I've seen dave matthews a couple of times(not a fan of DMB, but their shows are lots of fun) and the dmb drummer is f*cking amazing, AMAZING.

I'm going to say no, not necessarily. A friend of mine who is a terrific drummer in real life was completely lost drumming on my Ion kit. I'm sure if he worked at it, he'd be just fine, but being a great (real life) drummer requires some gift for improvisation, not necessarily playing every beat in lockstep (especially on more complex songs).
Someguy's talent is distinctive in triggering muscle memory to the specific visual stimuli (the chart). He's got good drumming technique, but that's a completely different talent.

"completely eh". It's not like Cobus is shredding riffs on the guitar and someguy on drums.

No, he may be good at real drums but a video game is totally different because it adds the aspect of hand-eye coordination with a new setup that takes time getting used to. With plenty of practice and getting an idea of which pad is what in terms of real drums (which is cymbal, tom etc.), then maybe he would be good. Plus he adds a lot of improvisation so he would have to learn it again from scratch playing it the real way, well the way that the game shows it's played anyway.

Same thing that happened with other musicians playing songs on RB: utter failure. Just because you can play a real instrument doesn't (necessarily) mean you'll be great at the imitation of it.

Very true. Been a guitar player for 30 years but can't play guitar on RB. I see the notes fine, but for me the frets buttons are too close, so I always get miss hits. If they come out with larger spacing on the fretboard I'd give it another shot.
As a newbie drummer, I really like this guy:
