Since there are no buttons on the Microphone, the only way to join the Band with the Microphone is to have a regular controller (either the Xbox 360, PS3, or PS2 controller depending on your console) powered on to make selections for the microphone. When you're ready to use the microphone, press the prompted button to join the Band.

Please note that if you are playing online your band mates will not be able to hear your singing. This is intentional as your voice would lag behind the beat.
