some of you may remember my last thread ("my clothes smell like bird & dead fish.."), well on wednesday we get our weekly delivery, and i was made to price our entire order upstairs where its as cold as it is outside (20 degrees) and i was fed up, freezing & had a particularly bad morning that i wont go into as its too long and would require its own unnecessary thread.. so i walked out at 4 pm. nobody noticed it til 7:30. AND IM NEVER COMING BACK. i have the experience to do better, i was a supervisor at 3 diff retail stores, i was only there bc it was low stress and my old boss was going to let me have whatever schedule i wanted and do my homework during dead hours. first week of jan new boss came and fired two employees because she didnt like them, and had her eye out for me because i was the only girl left and complained about carrying 80 lbs up & down a staircase. i DID IT, it just HURT, especially when youre doing it for the better half of 40 hours a week, paired with cleaning animal poop and trying to explain OVER and OVER and OVER the process of cycling a fish tank (converting it from a bowl of water to an actual aquatic environment) and why you cant put guppies with oscars (DINNER MUCH?).
yeah, im a.. whatever word you want to use to describe a "scaredy-cat". i dont do confrontation. i avoid it at all costs. i have severe anxiety. in fight or flight, im flight all the way. so thats why i didnt just put in my two weeks (also, she would have tormented me during those two weeks) or just quit on the spot. but im happy to get out. yay.
plus, now i have all the time in the world to tackle caprici di diablo (33%).

Congratulations to have the *balls* to quit your stinking job. :) I know it was hard for me to quit my last one. (I get attached too easily).

Way to go! Sounds like a good thing to get out of there. Not liking confrontation as you do, I recommend you never take a job at a tax preparation facility. For some reason, people really hate it when you have to tell them that the IRS kicked back their electronic return because their ex illegally claimed their kids and filed his return first, and that they'll have to file a paper return for the IRS to consider giving them the credits.

I would never last as long as you did at a job that required me to clean up poop.

I'm glad that you got out of that job if you disliked it so much, koko. But please be mindful that the flight mechanism/confrontation avoidance would be a good thing to work on before starting your "real" job :)

hopefully you will be able to find something that will include better stuff to do than playing with bird poop.
and if no one noticed that you were gone for three and a half hours, well... that just tells you how much they value what you are doing there....
