Nikki Sixx: ‘I’m An Artist And I Love Snow Patrol’

Nikki Sixx, who’s conscientiously added a few new volumes to Led Zeppelin’s encyclopaedia of rock piggery, has told US website Metromix that he’d like to be seen as an artist. Sixx, who also co-wrote the band’s infamous biography ‘The Dirt’, has said that he’s tried his best to not be perceived as a wild child.

“I do everything and anything to not be a rock star and just be an artist. I focus on artistry… I'm just another cat who plays some pieces of metal on a piece of wood.

“I don't regret [the booze, drugs, depraved sex, snorting ants, dying…], but sure I have opinions on whether people should be doing what I did, or learn from my mistakes”.

When asked about his iPod and current listening habits, Sixx surprisingly tipped his hat to Gary Lightbody and the mighty ‘Patrol.

“I guess I’ll just start at the top. I’ve got Aerosmith and AC/DC, Average White Band, Bela Flack, Sigur Ros, Snow Patrol”.

Oh how I love it when Nikki runs his suck like this. The man is a walking contradiction and so full of lol quotes. He needs to learn to keep his big mouth shut. Of course he's gonna mention a band like Snow Patrol, anything to sound hip and relevant and attempt to distance himself from his 80's metal roots. This however still rates as one of best Nikki quotes ever and has taken on a life of its own on another forum I frequent

Nobody tries harder to be a rockstar than Nikki, The Heroin Diaries anyone?, but he does it extremely well. One of the best in fact. Ya gotta love him.
