With the new Neon-bar like notes, how will hammer ons and pull offs be shown? In previous games, we all know the black circle on the top disappeared for hammer ons and pull offs, but now we have nothing to get rid of, from the looks of it.

Also for the drums, as a suggestion for the game, Harmonix or some company should make a real electric drumset adapter. So if you own a real, electric drumset, you can buy an adapter to plug your drums into and it will register as the game's notes. You could also register certain drums to certain buttons. Like your Hi-Hat to the yellow as well as the high tom. Crash and mid tom could correspond to the blue note. Ride and low tom could correspond to green. What do you think?

I think Harmonix should make an electric one that resembles a drum kit and an adaption for normal ones, because I only have a normal kit, so I will have trouble playing on 4 pads thinking the crash is the floor tom and stuff. I would pay extra for an electronic kit for the game.

I'm getting a little sick of nearly EVERYBODY saying this. 'omg rock band wil be teh ***z0rz if u cant play with a real $1000 electric drumz'. I'm not directing this at you but this seems to be the reaction of some people on the forums (same with those who proudly declare Rock Band will 'suck' without double bass).

Anyways, my point is I think this is a lot harder to do then people might be giving credit for. I'm no expert, but I would think there would be a HELL of a lot of work in trying to make the game compatible with the plethora of different types of electronic drum kits and pads out there. I don't think it's as easy as just plugging it into an 'adapter' and the game will magically be able to recognise and convert the signal from the drum pads into something the game engine can understand.

I just think it's an unrealistic expectation for a feature, especially considering that if HMX did implement it would cost a lot of dev time to only affect like maybe 2% of the target audience.

I'm not saying they should do it, because I think it's pointless for the 100 people that might use it (though I did hear that harmonix was thinking about it) but it's not that hard. You wouldn't be plugging in the pads, you'd be plugging in the whole kit. Drum kits work on a standard called MIDI. So you should be able to plug it into a MIDI -> 360 Adapter. There would be some annoying hardware to make, and it'd probably be $50 or more for it, but it is possible. Effort is probably better spent on the rest of the game.

Also, what's the point of your fancy kit when the game will still only have 4 pads and a kick? They won't magically have more pads coming up on the screen, so who cares if your kit has 10 pads, you'll only use 4 of them. I think that's the biggest reason why it doesn't matter. The game only has 4 pads in it, no matter what peripheral is hooked up.

It's barely noticeable, you really have to squint to see it. The feature is never mentioned in any of the tutorials or in the manual (at least i couldn't find). I think it's usually pretty obvious what you can HOPO, just look at the gap between the 2 notes.

Squint... really? It's kinda obvious with the black circle missing. Also, look at Free Bird. The first part is mostly HO/PO, but they're really far apart.

I've only got the ps2 version and i play it from about 2 meters away from my 23 inch screen... I have to squint

It's really hard to notice on the PS2 version. I used to play on a 120" projector all the time (we had one set up in our common room) and I never noticed the circles until we switched over to the 360 version when it came out. And then I even noticed it on a regular TV set off the 360 as well. The PS2 version is just really really blurry and looks terrible once you play the 360 one, even if you're not playing in HD. I wouldn't have believed it without seeing it myself, but the difference is night and day.

Generally the notes go by too fast to do anything anyway, and it's best just to strum if you can. Strumming allows you more forgiveness if you press a note too early, whereas even if it is a hammer on and you press the button early, you're screwed. Strum anyway and you're golden. Now, if only Harmonix could manage to make the controller quieter this time around... the strum bar gets annoying when the banging is almost as loud as the music.
