Lucky dog!
They came through here around December, but that's the absolute worst time for me to consider buying show tickets with all the holiday shopping.

Rise Against rocks live. Their show was great, though the sound wasn't too good in this venue (Columbiahalle). They played a lot of great songs and even had a more quiet part with an acoustic Guitar. Last song was Prayer of a refugee - no encore (what a pity). The two warm up bands were pretty good though.
Well, I was rather disappointed by the audience. On one hand it was a pretty good concert. Guess I've never seen a moshpit of that size. Actually the whole floor was one giant mosh-pit. Tim even mentioned how much he liked that german moshers help each other getting up once some fall on the floor.
BUT on the other hand i have never seen such a mediocre and MTV-adjusted audience in a Punk / Hardcore concert before. It was like everyone knew the lyrics, but noone really understood what they were singing.
I am 31 years old. When I was 20, people who went to punk and hardcore concerts really knew what it's all about. Today many kids seem to be very un-political. Messages like in Rise Against-Songs are treated like a show. As if the band made up the lyrics for fun. Rise against could have sung about santa clause and no one (except a few) would have cared. I had the feeling that most of those kids were there because of the agressiveness of the music itself. And thats how they reacted. In my times it was at least not normal to run through the moshpit with elbowes pointed out. Those kids had no concert culture and dind't care if the ones around them could take their attacks. Specially girls had to suffer from that.
To me it seems like punk-core has really reached the Mainstream business. Another indication is how they filled the columbiahalle. Originally the concert was planned to take place in another venue. But the tickets sold so fast that they moved the concert to a bigger venue. Still, it was so full that there was no place to take a breath. I don't want to know what would have happened if there were a fire.....
