I have a 360. I put in the code on one song and I canceled that download to go download other songs. Now I can't download that song or any others.

See if that gets you going again.

I find the free download thing on the history, but it says download pending. I can't get the songs with it. How do I do this?

Do you have a good connection to XBL? Also note that it is a huge download, so it will take quite some time.
EDIT: I reread your original post. You do realize that the 20 free songs are a pack, not of your own selection, right?

I did not realize that. Do you know to find what is in the pack?

Thanks for your help. That was a little bit misleading of them.

Right. I only just realised this was the deal and tried to do it but I have a problem. The code on the back of my RBII manual is 25 characters long (5 sets of 5 characters) but the registration page only has space for 16 characters (4 sets of 4).
However I'm even more confused because the back of the manual talks about the code being for transferring the RBII songs from the disc to the 360 HDD. No mention of 20 extra songs.
Lastly, I already paid to transfer the RBI songs through XBL so I don't know if that affects anything.
Is anyone able to clarify all this for me please? I'm stumped.

It's actually pretty simple. The back of the manual is really confusing, but that 25-character code is for the 20 free DLC pack, but you don't have to use the web registration. Just redeem that code, and you're set.
And that code is for the 20 free DLC, even though the manual would lead you to believe otherwise. So, you're good :)

Aha. I should've guessed really. Thank you very much. All sorted now. Will give them a play later. So what's all that about on the back of the manual about transferring the RBII tracks? And why is http://register.rockband.com/ still there if it doesn't match our codes?
Still confused but happy...:p

A lot of people are still getting copies of RB2 that need to register to get the download code. Hence, the website is still up. Additionally, many people who have had the game for a while still haven't registered for their tracks.
The back of the manual is confusing. You can transfer the RB1 tracks to RB2, but you already figured that out :)

Oh so some people have the 16 digit codes on their manuals? So they can't do it over XBL?
Oh well thanks again. :)
