Question on solo tour difficulty

Probably a stupid question but anyway.. I'm currently stuck in Chicago in solo mode playing hard level. This weekend have some friends coming over and I really want to unlock all of the songs so figured I'd drop to medium to get through them all. Do I have to go through every single song again in medium or just complete all the songs in Chicago on medium to progress to the next city?

I'm pretty sure it's every single song again. Judging by the way the difficulty menu looks in the Solo Carrer mode, progress doesn't carry over from difficulty to difficulty.

It's just like Guitar Hero, 4 separate progresses in 4 difficulties.
