Chris Jericho opened the door to his vehicle in the middle of the road because a girl had ran up and tapped on the window for an autograph or something then another fan shut the door. Jericho then got out of the vehicle completely and punched the fan in the face. Which happened to be a girl. Not the best video but its a must see.

Well gosh, thanks for telling the whole story.
From WrestlingAttitude.com
The account of what happened with Chris Jericho and the woman that is posted on your website is not correct. Here is what actually happened, as my girlfriend and I were literally 5 feet away from the altercation (the total incident was about 5 minutes) and saw the whole thing happen. Here's what happened (I already had it typed out because I had sent it to another site, so I'll send it to you as well):
This afternoon after the WWE house show in Victoria, my girlfriend and I went to see the wrestlers leave the arena (this was my girlfriend's first WWE event and she wanted to see them leave). The following is exactly what happened right in front of me and about another 50 wrestling fans who happened to be there are well:
Chris Jericho exited the building, and walked over to his white rental vehicle. The crowd watching him leave was heckling him, but he was ignoring it. He gets in his vehicle and drives out of the arena parking lot, right past the crowd of us. As Jericho stops at a stop sign, a fan runs into the street and starts banging on his rental vehicle. At this point about 50 people rush into the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic in several directions, with no police and very inadequate and incompetent security (no WWE security guards period). My girlfriend and I were literally in the very front of the crowd, and this all went down literally five feet away from us.
Chris Jericho opens the door to his vehicle in the middle of the road, and the fan shuts the door back on him. Jericho then gets out of the vehicle completely, and punches the fan in the face! This prompts another fan to jump in (he was friends with the first) and attack Jericho, and Jericho scuffles with the second guy. At this point, a woman who knows the second guy who attacked Jericho starts to jump in and get in Jericho's face (because he was fighting her friend).
This is where the Save on Foods Rent-A-Security Guards stopped standing around watching this happen (I swear they thought they were watching a wrestling angle or something), and stepped in to separate Jericho and the woman, who was shoving him. Looking at Jericho's face he was obviously ready to explode and was restraining himself...but then the ****storm happened...
He spit in the girl's face, and called her a "****ing *****". The woman then spit in Jericho's face. Jericho then started cursing out the woman some more, and was getting ready to go back into his vehicle (as all of this is still happening in the middle of the road). While he was turning to go into his vehicle, one of the guys he was fighting shoved Jericho against his car. Another guy then shoved Jericho, and that time he bumped his head on the top of his vehicle. This was where Jericho seriously snapped.
After bumping his head, Jericho went into a ****storm, throwing and swinging at everybody around him. He knocked one guy to the ground, told another fan that he was going to "****ing kill you". The woman who got spit on was still yelling at Jericho, so he piefaced her away from him (because the arena security couldn't keep them separated). As soon as he put his hands on the woman, ANOTHER fan jumps in and starts swinging at Jericho. Jericho grabs the guy and starts throwing him to the ground, and at this point I have to yank my girlfriend out of the way and into some other people because Jericho had literally thrown himself and the other guy into our direction and we would of been knocked down by the scuffle.
The arena security try again at this point to regain order, and two of them grab Jericho and start yelling at him to calm down, to which Jericho responds by taking a swing at one of the security guards and yelling at them to "do your ****ing job and get the ****ing police here". Then he shoves the second guard to the ground and tells him to "stay the **** off me".
Well, as that happens, the chick lunges at Jericho AGAIN, and this time Jericho actually punches the woman in the face, and shoves her to the ground. This stunned everyone, and the girl's friends ended up jumping in trying to fight Jericho, to which he fought all of them off, then storms into his vehicle swearing and speeds off, running through a stop sign in the process.
This whole thing happened over the span of about 5 minutes (of the street being blocked by this ordeal), and the woman ended up calling the cops on Jericho. They arrived 5 minutes after Jericho left, complete with a Paddy Wagon. The WWE's head of security did not see the incident, so he was there trying to figure out what happened along with the cops at the same time while yapping on his cell phone, and the woman is pressing charges against Jericho. As crazy and unbelievable this sounds, it can all be backed up with whatever police report was filed on the scene this afternoon.
The WWE's statement to TMZ.
"After leaving a live event in Victoria, British Columbia on Saturday evening, Chris Jericho's car was attacked by a mob when he was stopped at a stop sign. Unable to proceed, Chris Jericho exited his car to ask the crowd to clear a path so he could continue through the intersection. A man and a woman physically and verbally assaulted Mr. Jericho. Arena and WWE security arrived to establish enough order to allow Mr. Jericho to re-enter his vehicle and depart. The local police arrived minutes later. Mr. Jericho was unharmed in the incident. The WWE is working with local authorities who are investigating the incident to identify the man and woman who fled the scene."
Try getting your story straight next time.

Kudos to you then at least. There's almost no reason anyone should criticize him for this. Faced with the same situation, I find it hard to believe 90% of the population wouldn't get pretty pissed off too. If fans are going to be stupid and reckless, they deserve to get punched in the face, especially if they're being stupid and reckless next to a guy who makes his money by being in hella good shape.

I think dooms comment was directed at the OP. I can't say I blame him, but did he really have to punch a chic in the face? Anyway, if your famous you gotta expect crazy fans, security should have been tighter.

I figured that too. However, I do agree that there was failure on all sides of this to prevent the problem.
1. No way should security have been so poor as to allow fans into traffic. It's not safe for the drivers or the fans themselves.
2. No way should the fans (or in this case, haters) have antagonized a dude who could beat the ever living daylights out of them. It's like pedestrians who know they have the right of way in a crosswalk or something. Sure, you're in the legal right, but that doesn't mean if I hit you with my car going 30 MPH it's going to feel like a pillow. Let's be sensible.
3. As a famous person, he should understand that there are going to be people trying to push his buttons and he shouldn't have gotten to the point where he physically harmed someone. Granted, I blame him less for this situation and the person(s) antagonizing him certainly did deserve a beat down. It just doesn't make him LEGALLY in the right.

I agree on the point that as a famous person, you have to cope with this. However, as someone who followed wrestling for years and is generally familiar with the environment, there is rarely a show goes by when the major antagonists aren't jeered as they leave the building, which really just means they're playing their role well. I think it speaks for the extreme level of the situation that this one escalated as it did, as normally heckling from the fans is very commonplace. Jericho may not have been completely in the right by punching the woman, but if people are blocking your exit, slamming your car door on you, and trying to force an altercation, I see nothing but reasons for Chris to push his weight around. This is even truer considering how clearly lackluster security was acting toward the situation.

CRAAAZY! That was an epic encounter. Yeah, it sucks that even though people were stupid and caused this whole encounter, Jericho will still catch flack for this simply because he's a public personality. Kinda sucks for celebrities and people in the public eye when you think about it... people aggrivate you and its human nature to respond accordingly, except for the fact that you are a public figure then people scrutinize your reactions exclusively, and none of the factors that brought you to that place.
It's just the way of the world I suppose. Public figures are waaay more easy to string up and chastise for "normal" reactions or behavior compared to "regular" people. Sorta like Michael Phelps... feel bad for the Olympian whose career has hit a minor obstacles, just for what? doing what a million other people his age do without fuss or muss... just because he's a celebrity, people are ready to crucify him. OH WELL.
hahaha at least Jericho held his own.... Y2J brought THE WALL OF JERICHO DOWN ON ALL THEM S-O-Bs! hahaha
I haven't watched wrestling in so long... kinda miss it.... :o

A little more information has come out (through a Fox News report/debate earlier today, hence no link).
The woman and her boyfriend (the guy that Jericho tackles) had nearly been out of the arena three times during the course of the show for "unruly" behavior. Plus you have to factor that the cops arrested HER, and as of now, they have no plans to bring charges against Jericho. There was a debate on Fox News this morning about the incident, with a lawyer who clearly wanted to make some money, and another person (sry can't remember the name). After all the arguments, and seeing the vids, the host even agreed that Jericho wasn't at fault for what happened, though maybe should have restrained himself.
I personally blame the security. There is no way that a) a fan should have been able to jump on his car in the first place. B) That ANY fan should be allowed that close to his car in order to hit him in the head. C) Once the guy got tackled the FIRST time, how the hell is able to get back up and go after Jericho AGAIN D) For just standing around the whole time, acting like it was a wrestling angle
From IGN:
And these particular fans had a nasty rep already. There were fan reports coming in about them all night. Apparently, they were just violent douches who were looking to fight someone. They had already almost been kicked out of the show three times for unruly behavior. One fan who sat near them called their de facto leader a "typical gangsta-wannabe, and who was wearing a merch-table WWE belt all afternoon, reacting to all the heels as if the whole show was a shoot and constantly running up to the front row and calling them pu**ies and such."

And for another angle on what happened, here's another vid. It doesn't really show the girl, but it has a much better view of what happened to the guy.

I'd say the two people really to blame there are the fans instigating the whole fight and security not doing their jobs, much like DarkEternal said. The fans should've never made it to his car, especially after he's already pulled away from the arena.
The worst thing Jericho did (other than losing his temper) was getting out of the car in the first place. He should've just locked the doors and let security get the people out of the way. I really can't stand Jericho, but he doesn't deserve to get spit at and jumped by rowdy fans

If some one's beating on my rental car I'm not just going to sit there and let them. No one in this world deserves to be mobbed like this trying to leave his or her job.

This whole situation was very unfortunate. It sounds like the fans that instigated it should have been escorted off the property while the show was still happening. About everything that can go wrong here did.
1. Where was the WWE security or the cops to direct traffic? At every event in my town they shut down the traffic lights around the arena as the event finishes so they can direct by hand instead.
2. Jericho, don't get out of the car! There is plenty of case law regarding Road Rage issues where the "victim" is denied compensation because they would have been perfectly safe inside their vehicle. Instead they got out and exacerbated the situation. Sure, it's natural to want to fight back - but staying in the vehicle w/ windows up and locks down is the "right" thing to do. Driving away is better, but he couldnt safely do it without hurting other fans.
3. If a wrestler is kicking your ace, don't keep getting up and trying to fight some more.
I really hope Jericho can walk away clean from this incident. He's good at what he does, which probably led to the fans heckling. Last time I watched wrestling he wasn't a heel so I was a bit surprised.
I understand the arguments some people have about public figures and that being a celebrity is usually an option so you are expected to live with the pros and cons of it. But I support everyone of them that eventually break some paparazzi's camera. They're entertainers, it's their job, and you shouldn't expect them to be on all the time. You wouldn't follow someone home from their job at H&R Block then demand they do your taxes for you while they eat dinner. Why should a celebrity be expected to sign autographs and entertain you after the show is over?

He was being attacked by a mob of people while security just stood there. He went to leave, and he got shoved into his car, he didnt look at who shoved him, he just turned around and punched.
Then he gets jumped by the boyfriend, and he puts him on the ground.
What should he have done? Sat there and let his head get bashed into his car? His actions are just.
And whoever said Roid Rage needs to take a long hard look at Jericho. He is smaller than hes ever been, and hardly has any definition.
And he gets tested 4 times a year.
