they got Rockband??? Rockband has not left my PS3, since NOV 20. It would be pretty sweet if at some point GH1,2 and 80's content made its way to DLC, would love to play the drums on some of those tunes, Bark at the Moon, Pantera, Megadeth, Anthrax, but I am gearing up for some Sabbath next week, that is goiing to rule 2.

Rock Band has been the only game in my 360 since the 20th. I miss Cult of Personality but I would feel dirty booting up GH3.

Nope. Haven't played it, haven't had the urge to.
The next time I pick up that Les Paul will be when it works with Rock Band.
And I have a broken Strat. What does that tell you?

GH3 went back in a while ago as the RB controller is borked and a replacement hasn't even shipped yet. GH3 is harder for sure, I think RB is more fun, but I won't know until a controller hits my door. I did the up-strum thing for 2 days after down-strum broke. Now it's just hopeless.:(
btw. I do hate the "battles" they added in GH3. Totally ruined it for me.

Harmonix always had the idea for rock band, just not the resources until this now.
so yes, I bet it would exist.

I was just reading on the gh forum that they are working on a patch for online play for ps3 users, I was only able to play maybe 10 matches online when they launched gh3, sucked , boss battles were kinda fun, but the 50 times I played lou on expert kinda ruined it for me.. I hear ya about cult of personality , I miss Black Sunshine

They definitely need a patch for their online mode. I played more songs with RB in three days than I was able to play with GH3 in three weeks. Wouldn't surprise me to find out that Neversoft isn't handling communication through PSN properly.

I have it for the Wii and have had no network, game or guitar problems at all.
GH is far more challenging. I can't play hard on GH3 but can easily do so on RB - that was until my guitar quit working.

I have not picked up GH3 since RB was inserted to my ps3. The online features for ps3 aren't so up to speed on things and rock band is just more fun. PERIOD. Im trying to become more advanced by playing the drums while singing the song as well using a headset. Grant it, im singing and drumming on medium but its worth the challenge. AND what is up with the stupid guitar for rock band?...I have 8 friends who have it and 7 of them have a broken guitar. I though i was gonna get away scat free when my downstrum broke as well a few hours ago. I also noticed many posts about broken strats. Bummer

EA announced the other day that there was an issue in the production run that made up a large part of the launch packages. They're working as quickly as they can to get it resolved. At this point, the turnaround seems to be just a couple days (though if you're like me and had the problem almost immediately, it's turning out to be more like a couple weeks).

I like GHIII. I can't beat Raining blood on hard but that's another story. I'll keep playing it until RB finally arrives in the UK and then see how it goes.
Online play on the 360 is fine. It's nice to see I'm an above average player as well. It's also nice to hear American kiddies (and it's always American, I'm sorry to say) abuse me prior to playing just because I'm English, only to be veeeerrry quiet about 10 minutes later.

I just noticed how Tiny the GH 3 Les paul is compared to my RB Fender.
it's like looking at a baby version of the same guitar.

I played it once becuase I downloaded the halo theme and the battle tracks. I played those, and then it came back out and rock band went in again.

I stuck it in once. Played 3 songs the put RB back in. Only other time I've taken the RB disk out of my 360 is when I watch a DVD.

IMO GH3 is a POS, Activision totally ruined the franchise. I find I switch between RB and GH2 frequently but never play GH3.

Yeah, except that whole thing where Harmonix made guitar hero anyways.

I keep meaning to download the Halo Theme for GH3, but I haven't been able to pull myself away from Rock Band long enough to do so. :p

After my guitar broke last night I switched in guitar hero... Drums and singing are too loud after the wife goes to sleep.
A: forgot how dang loud the GH3 clicker..guitar is.
B: Didn't realize I liked the cleaner "tubes" vs the "Circle" notes on GHIII
C: It was easier to learn hard/expert on Rock Band, but now coming back GHIII wasn't as hard..
D: Didn't realize on Rock Band having the notes closer together was SO helpful, I felt like I was stretching my hand much more on GHIII
E: how rediculously easy is pull offs and power ons on GHIII!!!!! So silly.
I want my guitar replaced right now... MAKE IT SO!

I downloaded the (rightfully) free Halo Mjolner Themesong last night (It's played by Steve Vai, I had to get it :D ) and ran through that a few times on expert, trying to get reaquainted with the LP after loving the everloving sh!t out of my Strat... Played the DLC version of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" and got pwned 4% into it twice in a row, and then played another song or two... Although it's back to RB today after work. I just can't get over how good the strat feels, and the fact that after playing guitar on RB for a few hours, the note display is WAY better than the circles in GH, which originally I wasn't too sure about.

Are you serious? The strum bar on the GHIII Les Paul (Wii) still makes a click sound, but it's WAY quieter than the one on the old SGs. The Les Paul is the best controller Red Octane has made so far.
And the strum bar hasn't broken. :)

Well, that's the whole point of my post. If Guitar hero was never made, Rock band could never have been made. Harmonix needed the success of Guitar Hero to get to Rock Band.
If they had an idea for RB at the very beginning, well good on them, but without the experience, exposure, and revenue of the Guitar Hero series it never would have come to fruition. Now that RB is out everybody feels some wierd fanboy need to bash the series that got them here.

So, I specifically bought my ps3 for Rock Band, Your damn skippy it hasnt left my system since the 20th. $800 later I feel very happy for my "investment" (not sure if thats the right word for a game ). Anyways, I almost bought GHIII just for the extra gutar but im glad I didn't cause of the issues with it not working on ps3. Plus, ever since rock band came to my school nearly two months ago, I've been in love with the stratocaster (not for real you dirty pervs)
It is by far the superior controller, regardless of the screw up during production. Yes my strum is having issues, though only intermittenly (thankfully it didn't fully break on me as its still playable, just breaks streaks occaisionaly). hMX is still the greatest music game developer out there, even though there have been some mistakes along the way.
GHIII is the same, despite its flaws, is still a great game. i just posted a rant on the differences of these two here, if you care to read it

One thing is for sure though, insane solo play and loud clicky plastic is no longer for me :O Rock band FTW!

After about a week I put GH III back in the system and tried it out.
It's still fun, and playing some of the songs that are on both systems really freaked me out or a while since the fret buttons were all different.
After about 3 songs, it came out and RB was back in and has been ever since.
GH 80's is my favorite of the GH franchise, mostly because I graduated HS in '84 and those were the songs I listened to.
I would LOVE an '80's pack for RB.
