View Full Version : Replacement Guitar Whammy Problems

I got my replacement guitar yesterday after the strum bar on the first one died. I have yet to stress test the strum bar in a marathon 12 hour shredding extravaganza, but in the 30 minutes that I did try it, I started noticing really odd Whammy behavior. It seemed to just be going off by itself and not in a nice way. At first, I thought I might be bumping it, so I spun it around and made sure I was no were near it and it still happened. I tried calibrating the system with the hopes that it had something to do with the new guitar, but it didn't seem to help. I also noted, that when I used the Whammy on purpose, it didn't sound the way I expected -- sorta like it wasn't always registering the Whammy's input.
I'm pleased that I can actually play the game now -- but I'm upset that this replacement just has a different problem. It turns all my long notes sour and sounds hideous, and I'm unable to get a good result out of using the Whammy on purpose.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Haven't experienced that problem with the Whammy bar...mine just plain broke. While playing Paranoid, I was using the Whammy bar and *snap*, it broke. Still works, but has no return functionality. Still, I'm having it replaced.

I just reveived my replacement for the broken strum and my whammy bar is not working...it did at first but now is not registering at all...looks like Ill have to send away for another...hopefully that patch comes soon
You don't need to replace the entire guitar. Just open it up and replace the spring with a small rubber band. Works like a charm.

What the big problem with sending for another replacement? It doesn't even cost a dime. Plus you make sure it's still covered under another 60 days of warrenty.

The problem is that you have to keep dealing with this problem. What happens when the warranty is gone? Shell out another 180 for the game again?
Do you really expect the consumer to keep sending back their guitars for another until the 5th or 6th replacement at which point the warranty will have been done?
Goodluck with that.

My whammy doesn't work on the replacement either. Why did they make such a crappy guitar to begin with? My son went through 2 GH guitars on the PS2 after 2 years and here I am looking for my 3rd after a couple of weeks.
