View Full Version : The most frustrating $180 I ever spent...
Status
Guitar: About 5 hours of play...then strum bar stopped working...
Drums: Worked seemingly fine...then I played a song on hard and tried to do a roll on the snare...note the TRIED...notes were not being picked up...
USB Hub: At first glance, it seemed like a cool gadget..until I had all my friends over to play 4 player...then I realized that one of the usb ports was busted...so no four player...
Microphone: The only thing besides the drum sticks that work properly...
I mean, I can understand about the guitar being busted since everyone and their mother is having the same problem...and I can even understand the snare drum not picking up all the notes...since ppl were complaining about that...granted it sux that both had to happen to me...but to top it all off...the USB hub had to be busted as well...so basically i spend $180 bucks to sing in rock band...I would have bought Sing Star if I wanted to do that...
Have box to send guitar back...will be sent on Friday...hopefully I'll get it back before Rock Band 2 comes out...also, apparently I have to call in about the hub issue, don't know what that will be like...sigh...and finally, the drum set will get sent in when I hopefully get my guitar back...( I kinda wanna wait and see if EA will come out and announce the problem like they did with the guitar strummer)
But yea...overall, I had to be the one of the most unlucky rockers out there...yea...I'm basically complaining, but its 2 am and I'm tired...so w/e..

The strumbar stopped working? Man that's weak, I haven't heard anyone having that problem yet. I guess EA/MTV/HMX really hate you.

You're joking right? I've heard of all his problems multiple times, and I also have one of them. The one thing he is lucky about is that he didn't get stuck in the backed up RMA stuff, as he already received his box.

I don't think you are in the minority here.
My guitar was broken out of the box. The strummer was basically limp and unattached.
The red drum will not play fast notes. I am a drummer and I only play on expert.
My 10 year old son was playing the drums on hard and the kick pedal broke in half. He did not have on shoes and he was playing normally. I was in the room.
My USB hub is also dead.
Like you. I have a working mic and a pair of drumsticks.
All of the broken hardware is on express replacement and I have yet to see any of the new items. I have no confidence that the replacements will actually work or last any longer than the originals.
From what I have read on these forums, there is a good chance the red drum will still not play fast notes. The kick pedal is the same bad design and the guitar may break after a few more hours of play.
When my replacements arrive, I will make a post with the results.

i already requested a guitar which i still havnt gotten. i feel like im standing in line and watching so many people cut in the front. Now when i play expert on drums, you def see the notes skipping. on med, you dont have that problem because you dont have any drum rolls. you def see it when you get constantly fast beats. its so damn annoying. And dont think its because im just missing the timing. I had a real life drummer come over and he was having even more problems. i told him you dont need to hit hard, just taps. and even then he was having problems. im pulling my hair out whenever i play the game. whoever designed these units needs to find a new job. way too many people seem to be having problems.
Yea...I can deal with the drums for now...since im only playing them on hard...its not that big of a deal...but i can't play guitar at all with my strummer busted...so...thats going back today...rma my hub of course....but I'm gonna wait a few weeks until EA recognizes the problem with the drums and fixes it...cause i don't wanna send in my drums and have the same problem with the next set...I guess if they don't say anything within the next few weeks, I'll just have to take my chances and try for a new one...:/

Amen bro AMEN. The only things that seem to work are the mic and the freaking game disc and drum sticks.

This is why I'm returning the game for a refund. I just don't think the current build of any of these instruments (other than the drumsticks and microphone) are going to hold up over time. I'm not giving up on the game, but I just don't feel comfortable spending that much money until some major improvements are made to the build of these things.
Already we have reports of people's replacement guitars breaking...and I'm sure the drums will follow suit.

Guitar: About 4 days, downstrum doesn't work.
Drums: The bass drum pedal shorts out, you need to move the inside up(the physical inside part of the drum to counter it.)
USB Hub:Surprised it has worked thus far..
Microphone: Works as far as I can tell.

my strum broke on the guitar after a few days, fixed it but the guitar is still acting weird, during hammer ons they dont always work and the strum i have to hit hard and perfectly for it to work.
last night playing drums my bass pedal snapped in half, the drums seem to be ok but im playing on medium so there isnt anything to fast on there.
usb port works fine, the mic is great even after me swinging it around :)
the drumsticks are crap i swapped them for a set of my vater 5As
i agree man im very upset that after spending $170 my stuff is busted after normal use :(

Why didn't you just use the 3 working plugs on the hub and then one of the plugs on the xbox itself (until you get a replacement)?

Yea, the USb ports on the 360 itself work fine with the hub plugged in. Whenver I have friends over for 4 player I plug whatever instrument I'm gonna be using into the 360 itself so that It'll sign me on as first player.
Well...i need one plug for the drums...one for the guitar...one for another guitar...one for the mic...and one for controller for the mic...thats five usb cables...
Hub - uses one usb port...one of the ports on the hub was busted...so that left three usable ones...so i plugged the two guitars and the drums into them...
The other usb port on the xbox would be used for the mic, but u need a controller plugged in as well...so there was only one port left for both the mic and the controller...therefore i need that broken port on the hub to work...
So unless I am missing something, I don't see how I could get four ppl playing the game...but really the bottom line is that I need to get my hub replaced...

xbox has 3. There is one above your Ethernet cord.
So you have 6 usable ports. 3 on the console, 3 on the adapter.
Adapter uses one on the console. Controller uses one on the console. Mic uses one.
Drums, guitar, guitar use one each on adapter.

OK,
This is starting to suck. Guitar=4-5 hours and then dead. The down strum will not hold any of the long notes. Up works OK, but damn...
Drums feel like I am going to snap in half when I play and I am not playing too hard. Have noticed some skipped beats, but not sure if it is just cause I suck or not....
Trying to get ahold of anyone is like trying to set up a meeting with a friggen foreign ambassador.
Now, I am going to go ballistic if I get the replacement guitar and the same thing happens. I have read on some forums that the inside strum contacts are hot glued to the area where it needs to make the contact. Do these hardware designers not realize that this is made for people to ROCK OUT.....the damn tutorial tells you to cut loose. I would rather pay 300.00 for good stuff than 180 plus change for crap!
Now I am sure this whole process will end with arguing with some dumb ass 16 year old working the best buy return line. I think I deal with enough morons already....

Let's see...
Drums: Red drum not picking up rolls properly, and the pedal broke in half.
Guitar: Strummer hasn't broken yet, but Overdrive fails to deploy when I tell it to, sometimes a few seconds late, and other times not at all.
USB Hub: Seems fine.
Microphone: Isn't picking up audio in game, but I'm still get feedback in my speakers. (Even with sensitivity all the way up.)
So, in short, I have a semi-functional guitar, drumsticks, and a USB Hub that I expect to crap out any day now. I really loved this game for the week that it worked properly. I just hope they instate a recall or something.
