How many different types are they? Which ones are they? I know they exist, but as someone in the UK, I won't see for myself until March.
Oh, and what's your favourite for each band member?

The four attitudes are Rock, Metal, Goth, and Punk -- just like the types of clothing. They change your animations when playing, for each of the three instrument styles (guitar, drums, mike).
It's hard to spot the differences sometimes, but it seems to be...
Rock: Classic rock frontman antics... fist pumping, jumping around, powerslides, etc
Metal: Dropping down low, throwing up the horns, scowling, etc
Punk: Spazzing out like you're having a stroke and occasionally kicking something.
Goth: Slower, more lithe movements and gestures. (Except I have seem them WOO! YEAH! rock out now and then, leading me to suspect some animations are universal.)
I prefer to give my guys Rock or Goth, depending on if I want energy or subtlety. Punk just looks bad at the low framerate the concerts are rendered at... like you're having a seizure on stage. Might work for the drums, but for guitars I go rock, and for vocalists I go goth.

I think I've used exclusively Rock. Hex is right that Punk seems too spastic. Never been a Goth fan, so that doesn't appeal to me. I might try Metal, but it doesn't seem too much different from Rock.

I chose goth for my guitarist, and I'm pretty disappointed. I was hoping for some sort of subtle shoegazer vibe in the movements. I certainly did not expect my handlebar-mustachioed rocker to be sticking his butt out and shaking it back and forth like a cat in heat...

I use metal for my singers, and rock or metal for guitars. Didn't get the drums so I can't give my opinion on that.

Whaaa? That doesn't sound very goth to me either. But it does sound like I want to choose goth for my next female rocker. :)

Said it in the Pros & Cons thread regarding Create-A-Character and I'll say it here. The Metal attitude just isn't complete without head banging and the hairmill.

Yes, the Goth choice does seem to have sort of a weird effeminate vibe to it. Our guitarist used it (and was purposely making a weirdo, so it actually works perfectly for him...) and he occasionally does this thing where he turns to the side and seductively peeks over his shoulder. It's hilarious and creepy at the same time. :D
Also, while I'm not big into Metal, I agree that it needs headbanging. I think they should have added an additional choice, so each category would have 2 versions. Sort of a Hardcore/Chill option... something like that.

I agree completely. No headbanging or harimill with the metal tude? I don't see how metal could differentiate from rock then. An hardcore/chill option sounds like a good idea. Harmonix take note for Rock Band 2.

By the sound of this, I may be sticking only to Rock and Metal, maybe Goth for a female character. Which is really annoying, becuase I'm a big punk fan. Maybe I'll do Punk for drummer, just to see them going mental, Animal style!

Goth's a disappointment in general -- I picked it for my grunge princess, and instead of staring at her shoes while strumming out Nirvana, she's doing these weird jumps around the stage and freaking out.
I suspect that only a FEW flavor animations are actually used, and the rest are generic rock-out-with-your-male-rooster-out type stuff.
As for headbanging, maybe it's not possible with the hair and cloth engine..? If the hairmill doesn't spin properly due to technical limitations, then there's no point in having it.

For such a small part of the game, I'm not overly concerned, but I wonder if they could implement something like in Tiger Woods, where there are a bunch of animations you pick from, rather than a generic "style" -- so you could really customize your character's on stage persona. The pre-release promos for the game seemed to suggest this, when it advertised "signature moves".

So... this is completely off topic, but all roosters are male. :)

I wonder if there's a video on youtube or wherever that previews all the attitudes.
I'm also regretting picking Goth for my guitarist. I was expecting somewhat of a shoegazing attitude as well but got a character constantly gritting his teeth and bouncing around in an effetimate and flamboyant way which is the complete opposite if what I wanted.
I'm thinking of just restarting him (since my clothing options were cheap) and give him the Metal attitude. Although I'm worried that the Metal attitude will end up being too much like 80's Hair Metal which is not what I want. Maybe I could just go with general Rock.
